Ghost loading benefit?

I've seen some talk about getting Benellis modified to ghost load. I understand what it is and have one of mine modified to do it (the other is an HK import and does it from the factory). However, I don't understand its benefit in 3gun. Unless you're shooting open, you can only load 8+1 anyway, right? So unless you only have a 7 round tube on your gun, what's the point of being able to ghost load for 3gun?

open shooters and in some unusual stage starts.
Its not a big deal, but its also a quick easy thing to do that doesnt affect reliability one iota, so thats why.

I shoot with another open shooter that uses a Benelli M2 with an XRail. I have a Mossberg 930 JM Pro with an XRail. Mine holds 22+1, his holds 21+1. So he ghost loads on longer stages so that we have the same ammount of ammo at the start.
