Ghost Load benelli m2 mod Yay or Nay

Was skimming through youtube and came across a video about ghost loading. The notch that catches and prevents an extra round to be loaded above the carrier can be notched or filled in with a weld. I assume cutting & smoothing a small ramp to make sure gun will not lock open is the best way since it cuts a little weight. Is this going to hurt anything in the long run? Or is this the norm and proven to work. Is this a necessary mod or something I'll most likely never need in tac ops 3-gun match?

Cyrwus has done that mod on numerous builds, including mine.
I've never used it cause I shoot tac ops or tac irons which only allows 8+1 at the start.
If you were going to shoot open and wanted to stuff every round possible in there, go for it, otherwise just leave the bolt as is.
