So I went out and watched. It looks like a blast. I have a few weeks left before I can start even jogging, so I figure that's a good time frame to start assembling necessary items.

for a pistol I have a Beretta 92fs with the original 15 round factory magazines and a couple of after market 15 round magazines. thinking I should probably spend the cash to get the 20 rounders?(4,5,10?)
for a rifle I have a plain m4 clone AR15 with several 30 round magazines and either iron sites, red dot or a 3-9, guessing the red dot is the place to start or should I look for something else there?
for the shotgun...I need schooling. what's a good (cheap) entry level shot gun and what all modifications will I need to have on it? what parts, and whats a good source for those parts?
for holster I have a 6005-73 SAFARILAND but not the drop leg attachment just a normal belt loops. No magazine holders, no special belt, no shell holders etc...maybe I should just get a Tac vest?(at least it would be funny :) )

and I'm sure there's at least a dozen things I'm not even thinking of asking about yet...so chime in with "He doesn't even know about the three seashells" all you want...as long as you can actually explain it(especially if it's about the three shells, I mean really it's been a decade and that still bothers me)

I've been looking around online, and I even went through some of the older posts on here but figured I would follow up with a new post specific to my questions and if I missed something similar earlier on the friendly folks here could re-point me in the right direction

Thanks

I'd say get going with what you have. You'll be amazed at how much gear folks will be willing to loan you just for showing up at a match. The Stoeger M3000 is a great entry level shotgun as well as the CZ 712. Just about the only mods needed are a big mag tube from Nordic Components. Get out there and start shooting!

Don't use a drop leg holster.
If you can't provide a shotgun, one will be provided for you.

Bring your current equipment and ammo. We can help with the rest.

You can use any of my gear you need if I'm at the match.

I wouldn't spend much money on the Beretta pistol as you will probably upgrade in the near future if you like 3 gun. If you have a holster that is secure bring it. If your holster is not secure.

Run your M4 and the red dot. OKC Gun club is only shooting out to 125 yards no so know you can hit a 4" target at that distance.

The best option for Shotgun is never the cheapest. the Benelli M2 is the king dingaling. It cost $1200 and needs another $150 to be ready for 3 gun. You can try a Steoger M3000, Mossberg JM Pro, FN SLP, Remington Versamax but your results aren't guaranteed to be good.

I started with a Beretta 92, then went with Glock, and now I've finally found a gun that agrees with me for this sport. M&P 9 pro 5"

I've seen people run the SX2 or SX3 but like the FN SLP that it is similar to it just isn't as releiable. I've never owned one but its tough to beat the simplicity of the inertia driven guns.

The long range bay was closed for safety concerns. Shooting down hill isn't always a good thing. Uphill is way more better for keeping bullets in the berms.

yeah, I saw where the Benelli is the way to go, but I figured since I can get away with what I have for now I would look at a cheap entry level shotgun and then step up from there if I enjoy it and you know just relegate my start up gear to back up gear.
I'll start looking for the suggested models, unless anyone wants to save me the time...I got like a good...20, 30 bucks right here right now... ;)

Thanks everyone for the updates and advice. More info will always be appreciated.

If you just need a shotgun period, why not get a Benelli Nova? They are a great value, and a popular pump gun for 3-Gun.

I have an 870 with a full length barrel (27" I think) didn't think that was really an option for 3 gun

so quick question then, what(anything) should I do to the 870?
Mag tube then go shoot a match and half your questions will be answered at the match and you will come up with another 1000 after the match, or just go shoot a match then get a mag tube...it's not like anyone is going to say this new guy didn't being the right gear! Just go shoot a match asap, literally someone shot a mosin at our last match lol

What he said is dead nuts on. The mag tube will add value to the 870. So you'll get more for it when you sell it to buy more 3 gun stuff later on.

If you don't want to burn $80 on a mag tube you're welcome to run my Stoeger M3000 at the next OKC match.

I have a 870 tactical that holds 10 in the tube. Would this work to start out? Until I get my Benelli ?
