When changing a barrel on an AR, do you need to change the gas block and gas tube?

uh, well you need to remove them and re-install them when changing barrels, but unless there is significant metal erosion from the gases, you can re-use them.

You also need to make sure the gas port is in the same location to reuse the tube (pistol, carbine, mid, or rifle) and that the barrel uses the same size block (I believe most at .750 but there are others).
