Anybody know offhand which free float handguards mount on a standard barrel nut? IOW, which replace a standard handguard w/o removing the barrel nut? I'm not talking about the two piece drop ins (obviously, as they are not free float).

I have a Fortis Rev 12" in mine. The top slides over the barrel nut then the bottom parts slides into a dovetail groove when some small bolts lock it in tight. Has the keymod holes on the sides and rails on top and bottom.

AP Customs carbon fiber tubes use the stock barrel nut. You'll still need to remove it to pull off the spring and delta ring. Same with the Fortis mentioned above, AFAICT.

This! I have one on my rainier arms rifle as well. Lightest rifle I have ever fired. Fully loaded with accessories, this rifle weighs less than my service m4 unloaded.

You don't take the barrel nut off with the Samson Evo/Rainier. You slide it down over the barrel nut with these two little half moon pieces that clip onto the barrel nut. Tighten with Allen wrench

No, delta ring and "springs" and retainers are removed from the nut. Same with my Troy VTAC rail.

So he'll still have to remove the nut to remove the delta ring and spring... unless I'm remembering the stock barrel assembly order wrong.

Not really an issue per se, just not something you would want to do on a whim. I mean with the torquing and hole alignment and all. I was thinking something more along the lines of "I feel like a free float today."

i must not understand. i bought a freefloat tube and it is threaded. im pretty sure my railed one has its own nut.

you want a handguard thats not a drop in. it would have to come with a nut or cant a nut alone be bought? i have just a bbl nut that may have been taken from a delta ring.

is there a tube that attataches to that?

Does that still work if the delta ring is there?

First mention of the delta ring being in place on the rifle in question. That would definitely have to be removed.
