Well,

I was shooting this last weekend at a 3 Gun match in Hutch, KS. I loaded up some #8-1/2 shot spreaders in my gun to mow down some clay birds.

After the 4th shot, my M1 jammed. The spent hull was stuck in the chamber and the live round was trying to feed up it's butt. I had to eject the live round, cycle the action and then it fired fine. It got me out of rhythm and that stage sucked like the rest of my day.

On the next stage, the Spreaders did the same no extract / fail to extract crap 2 or 3 times.

Has anyone else had problems with the Fiocchi stuff in their shotguns? I did not have issues the day before when I used up part of a box of #9 spreaders, cheap Federal Top Guns or cheap-o winchester #6's.

I have the failures on video, but I haven't finished processing yet.

Have you ever shot them in your gun before?

Were they the 1200 fps loads? Those won't run in every gun because they are kinda light.

I have shot them before, but i don't remember the if the first few boxes were the 1200fps. The ones that jammed were the 1200fps shells. I guess it needed more power to extract, yet it had plenty of power to move the bolt and attempt to feed a new shell.

Was the spent shell stuck in the chamber?

Just a wild ass guess but maybe your extractor is going bad or the Spreaders may have soft brass?

Either way I would test fire some spreaders before you put them on the clock.

It wasn't stuck, I could free it by manually operating the bolt. It could be the extractor, but it extracted the other shells I had shot that day without problem.

I will see if the Fiocchi's give me fits this week. I won't be bringing them down to Tulsa until I can finger out this problemo.

I had a bunch of extraction failures this weekend with some Estate brand shells I'd never used before. I forgot to bring my real shells and had to buy my match ammo at the pro shop. Lubing the gun at the match was my only option to help it, and that was only a minor improvement.. Gun hadn't been cleaned in 1k rounds, and there was a lot of crap under the extractor when I tore it down after the match.

I tore it down and scrubbed her clean. Added the +9 tube (damn +8 was just not enough). We will leave the spreaders for the SBS and "knock out" game at Redneck fest.
