Thank you for your letter and for sharing your thoughts on gun control. I

am grateful to hear from you, and I will work hard to be the

representative that Oklahoma's Second District deserves.

Like many Oklahomans, I believe defending the Second Amendment is

crucial to ensuring our rights and freedoms are protected. These rights are not only necessary for

defending ourselves, but also the lives of our loved ones and personal property. As a father of three

children, there is absolutely nothing I love more than hunting with my kids and spending time with them,

and I absolutely believe every American has the constitutional right to own firearms for recreational and

self-defense purposes. America's founders understood the importance of protecting the people's rights to

own firearms, and we should not allow that right to be taken away.

I will oppose any effort that restricts the Constitutional right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms,

such as Senator Feinstein's (D-CA) proposed assault weapons ban, and Congresswomen Carolyn McCarthy

(D-NY4) and Diana DeGette's (D-CO1) bill to ban clips with more than 10 rounds of ammunition. I am

especially opposed to any efforts by President Obama and Vice President Biden to restrict guns through

the use of executive orders, which is only a tactic to bypass Congress and force untested laws onto the

American people.

We should remember that tragic deaths at the hands of criminals are not caused by firearms, but by the

person using them. Instead of legislating away constitutional rights in search of a superficial cure, we

should treat the real causes of firearm deaths, particularly by enforcing the laws already on the books.

I will continue to monitor this situation, and will be sure to keep your comments in mind. Again, thank you

Since Bill Ruger passed away, the ruger organization has really stepped up to help maintain our 2nd ammendment rights. I applaud them.

They have provided the link for everybody in the US that automatically contacts the federal, state, and local politicians according to your zip code.

Whats really cool is that other gun manufacturers that are in direct competition with Ruger have posted that link on their websites.
