Dutch's 10/22 Project

We need to do a Boomer Shooter prarie dog shoot sometime.

I've been pdog blasting at least 1 evening after work for the last 3 weeks! And going again on Tuesday after work. Been going with a guy that has been buying bulls from me, and since I'm working in his neck of the woods it's just a 20 minute drive from where I'm staying. I might have to sell him one cheap so I can keep huntin! ;D

Where is this and would he be interested in letting me come out for a small fee?

It's north of Alva 1 mile from Kansas. It's one of his ropin buddy's land. So he would have to find out from him.

Damn money traps lol. They are fun though.

I keep in mind that the Ruger is an inexpensive gun to start with. I could sink some $$$ into making it a benchrest queen but that's not my goal. I simply want a fun shooter for plinking or action shooting.

For sure. One mod that I would recommend if you do decide to modify the trigger pull is the volquartsen hammer kit. It is a simple mod that drops your trigger pull down to about 2.5 pounds with minimal cost and effort. I have one in mine and have been very happy with it thus far. You can pick them up, with an auto bolt release, for $36 from midway.

They were on backorder about a week before they shipped last Friday. Unsure when I'll get to the range to try them out.
Just ordered a couple. Hopefully they will be here before the .22 tactical match. They said backordered.

I managed to get to the range the other day and try these out. I like them. Just need someone to load them for me.

I fired about six strings through each using Federal bulk ammo. One of the magazines was having an issue of the bolt extracting a round for chambering. As the bolt slid forward across the top of the magazine the round would tilt downward slightly and push against a flat area just below the magazine feed ramp. It would only do this on the first four or five rounds of the full magazine before functioning properly thereafter. The other magazine fed flawlessly time after time. Haven't had a chance to look further at the issue or a remedy.

Worked on the problem magazine some this evening. The issue seems to be that for some reason the rounds were sitting flat on top of the follower where they should be slightly canted nose up.

The magazines come apart very easily, requiring only a 3/32 hex key for the two screws that hold the two halves together. Cleaned the feed lips and removed the flat, coil spring that holds the follower to the lips. The spring attaches to the lip assembly with a small pin and might not have been seated properly. Put everything back together and loaded it with 25 rounds. This time the ammo sat atop the follower as they should and cycled without a hitch. Won't really know until I can make it to the range again.

Anywayz, took a clearer picture of the new stock with the factory barrel this evening. The iPhone pic above is a bit grainy and has me in it thanks to my wife. I'm still waiting on the Green Mountain barrel to arrive.

I am so jealous, I think I am gonna have to build one of these for the wife once I finish her secret AR. Have any of you guys ever tried out one of the suppressed barrels?

I don't have a suppressed barrel but I do have a suppressor for mine and with CCI standard velocity it is stupid quiet.
