DPMS LR-308 Question

Does anyone know if the buffer tube assembly of an LR-308 is interchangeable with an AR15 buffer tube assembly. They look the same but I'm not sure if they will fit and function the same. I want to take the collapsible butt stock off my LR-308 and swap it for the A2 stock I have on my AR15.

I'm pretty sure they're not. Bigger bolt carrier on a 308 and stronger spring. Brownell's etc specifies a different model for 308.
