I have been watching Doug's show to try and figure out why the NRA Bianchi Cup is still so popular. Between the space guns that make a USPSA open gun look like a S&W 625 to the blinders I don't get how it's still so popular. Is it tradition? I doesn't appear to be a practical application of pistol shooting any longer with all the newer more dynamic action shooting sports out there.

Whatcha think?

I've wondered the same thing.

It's about accuracy. The shooting world has always and will always be obsessed with accuracy.
In Bianchi, theres no way to outrun the other guy. You cant hose and make up for poor accuracy.
You cant get an edge with a great strategy or gaming.

You own every shot you send...and they better be X's.

I'd love to try it. I think I would SUUUCK at it. The practice would be very beneficial.
But good God its boring.

Those tube scopes look like their from 1980. I guess they dial their dope for the movers though. Open division always amazes me. It's strangely fun making it easier on yourself to do well even if it's totally impractical and downright goofy doing so. Heck what good is a 32 round shotgun other than open division 3 gun or a Mexican dove hunt?

I'm thinking while it might be a bit less exciting after spending so much time in the more dynamic shooting world, it would be extremely challenging.
Challenging enough to keep me focused & enjoy it.

Where can a guy even go to shoot it? Are there Bianchi ranges in OK? The whole mover thing makes it pretty tough. I'm guessing that's why the same 5 guys are always in top? Not everyone has the time or range to practice like these guys do?
