...but I have been saving to purchase a carry pistol for some time now and have my mind mostly set on an M&P 9c. I own a M&P 15-22 currently for fun shooting and what not. However with this current political climate, I was wondering if I should save for a real AR 15? Problem is I would most likely never be able to get enough money in time if a ban does pass as I am seeing what used to be 600-850 dollar ARs going for 1800-2200 on a lot of sites and retailers. Any advice guys as to what I should do? We are very much debt free people, so that isn't an option.

Midway has some rifle kits with everything but the lower for around $500 (del-ton) but they are out of stock. Really, if you can pick up a lower and a few mags you should be ok.

Congrats on making the decision to be debt fee.
I may be totally wrong, but I think this stupid frenzy will end, and prices/supplies will come down. They might not fall to pre frenzy prices, but they will fall.
