My wife just picked up a Walther PK380. We rented various guns at the range and she hated the G26( I am so happy we rented before we purchased). The subs werent really to her liking. On to the G19, was her favorite of the day. We did not rent a Walther. Went shopping a little later and she found, fell in love with, the Walther PK380. This is a neat gun to me. Does anyone have one or can give advice. Anything I should watch out for? Thank you guys.

yes, the interarms ones are like shooting a razor blade. Sharp edges everywhere.

The sig type clones p230 232, are more ergonomic, check those out

You talking about the PPK? The PK380 is the newer polymer one, looks like a baby P99.

I had one for a short period. I wasn't too big of a fan for a few reasons that might or might not be valid to you. First of all, I don't mind the mag release lever in a plinking .22, but I didn't like it in a carry gun. Second, it didn't have a slide release lever. I might have been able to get over those problems if I was able to conceal it comfortably. I can't remember what it was, but something about it kept putting a pressure point on my hip.

That is correct. The polymer frame. She didnt like the PPK, too heavy she thought. The PK is ergonomic and fits her hand perfect. The bad side it only came with one magazine so I had to order another one online. Should be in later this week. I have already field stripped it and cleaned it up, had a lot of grease on it and in the barrel. Its ready for the range now. I got her some range ammo and the defense ammo we purchased for it has a polymer ball inside the jacketed hollow point. At a dollar a round it better be good stuff.

So far, that is my only dislike, no slide lock with out the magazine inserted.

Back in the days of old... some quality time at the kitchen table with a Swiss file could fix the PPK/S woes. The sharp edge on the slide's bottom would cut up big hands along the tumb's web area.

I think those PPK/S -PP-PPK pistols are oklie dokie.. they have been around since 1929. Of course... the lack of a slide lock and the heavy DA first shot trigger are things we would never accept in a modern carry gun... but these little pistols are dandy "get off me guns" for self defense work. The tiny 380 and 32 ACP magazines preclude fast reloading... they are just too fine and require a lot of attention to hold, line up and seat... compared to a modern Double stack or 1911 mag you can get your hands on.

Those old Interarms imports made in Europe are head and shoulders over most of what SW is making up in Maine. My wilfe's little 380 is like butter compared to the US SW version. The platform seems to match the caliber... if you accept the realities of both.

Its a pain to break down for cleaning but other than that and no slide release it is a neat gun. I like the lever mag release as opposed to a button it is more comfortable to me. My dad has one and we haven't had any problems with it, but it somehow seems i am always the one that gets to break it down to clean after a trip to the range.
