I was wondering is anyone has had any experience with this pistol (non-shadow) and if so what they thought about it.

I shot one a couple times at H&H. It was standard CZ greatness. I personally feel leery about the thumb safety shape and the very small gripping area that the slide offers, but just in how I'd interact with those things during the speed of a match.

What do you want to do with it?
I shoot one in USPSA Production Div. and I am happy with it. Did my own action job and installed CZ comp hammer. (Lot of how to info in the home gun smithing section of the original CZ forums... Www.czfirearms.us) Also got f/o front and comp rear sights to complete my set up.

Not sure it will make weight if you intend to shoot IDPA. I've heard that you can if you swap out the grips for some super-light weight ones and maybe use 10 round mags but, I have not personally done it.

Pretty heavy gun if you intend to carry it all day.

I've decided that I want to start getting into more competitive shooting and I was thinking about starting out in uspsa production and was trying to figure out what a good pistol might be for it.

I've heard some good stuff about the CZ pistols but I was just curious how many people were using them. I'm glad to her H&H has them for rent so I can try one out!

I have been eyeing CZ's for a few months now. I think im going to save up and get a CZ85 combat in 9mm. I also might sell my M&P9c to get a CZ75c. I had no idea they had them at H&H for rent. Next time i go shoot I will rent one.

Standard SP01- basic configuration is 3-dot meprolight night sighs, firing pin block, recurve trigger ( no overtravel stop), thin poly guide rod, std. length mag release, thin mag brake, two mags.

Most people I have seen upgrade at least the sights and do a trigger job. The firing pin block has to stay in place for the games. Some folks with thicker fingers find the recurve trigger bites the trigger finger on the trigger stroke.

The cost of the upgrades lead pretty quickly to the SP01 Shadow.
