The magazine South Carolina Living sent a writer to the SASS Southeastern Regional championship match at the Palmetto Gun Club near Summerville in November of 2012. They published a feature article last October, just before the 2013 Regionals in November. Here is a link to the article: http://scliving.coop/sc-life/sc-life-fe ... ans-ferry/
I didn't get to go to the last one but I was at the 2012 Regionals; I spoke to the reporter and am quoted in the article under my SASS alias "Abe E.S. Corpus".
Today I came across a YouTube video that South Carolina Living uploaded; there is no narration but it shows some of the members of the Geechee Gunfighters (that's the SASS affiliate name at the Palmetto Gun Club) shooting one of the match stages. This is a pretty good representation of what cowboy shooters do in our monthly club matches. Link to video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5zgvTLBw_M
We are gearing up for the SC State Match which will be held from Thursday, March 27 through Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Greenville Gun Club, home of the "Greenville Gunfighters". If you've never seen a cowboy action match, this is a great opportunity to see how we roll (literally-most of us have guncarts to carry our long guns, ammo and necessaries). It's our third year hosting and we must be doing something right because the turnout is bigger every year. I know a fellow who's coming from Oregon-we need to give him a prize. The state match will draw shooters from all across the region, although the "state champion" awards only go to SC residents. People tend to go "all out" in their costuming at the "big matches" so it's a great people watching opportunity as well as a chance to see some good shooting. For the daily schedule and more information go to http://www.greenvillegunfighters.co/home/MansesRevenge
Post a reply or send me a PM if you have questions, unless your question is,"When are you going to shut up about cowboy action shooting?", to which case the answer is, "After you all come out to a match!"
Y'all stay warm today.
