At least thats what my dad called it back in the day. We would be fishing from a boat near a golf course in Ponca, and the golfers would knock ball after ball into the water, and so on. He thought golf was the stupidest game in the world.

Fast forward, I played my first round of golf in 10 years today. I like the challenge of the sport. It was hot, but my buddy and his son wanted to go.
We only did the front nine at Blackwell. Nice course, and with two people playing, and getting a cart, it was $16 bucks each. Pretty cheap play.

I sucked really bad for 95% of the game, but finally got some of it back, on the last two.

Anybody else into "cow pasture pool"?

I play as much as I can, school doesn't allow for too much for the past two years. I played in high school and miss playing competitively.

....... The golf course is a willful and deliberate misuse of a pefectly good rifle range! Jeff Cooper

I was addicted to the game 3-4 years ago. I started when I was about 25. I got down to a 12-15 handicap But realized that I was lacking the patience to hit every shot the same and the time it would take to build enough muscle memory to get good enough to win. That's when I found USPSA and the rest is history. Clubs now sit in the attic waiting for the once a year family game or customer event.

Sounds like my life story....

I started playing when I was 17 - been on and off since college - right now I don't have the time to dedicate to the sport because of my new habit. Injuries have also plagued my athletic career - but I need to dust off my set and play a round.

I play, or at least try to, on a regular basis. Game is up and down depending on how much I play. I do love the shooting sports although I have only been into them on a limited basis. I can say, from my prospective, that golf and the shooting sports have a lot in common. Both require constant activity within the sport or one cannot expect good results. If you only do it occaisionally and you can live with your results and ENJOY the time you spent doing it then I see that as a winner. If on the other hand you are driven for maximum performance then one must give it his all whether it be golf or the shooting sports. In the end, when I have a good game or match I am a happy competitor

You would be the last person I would want to play a round of golf with. Knowing you, you're probably the guy who would bet on every shot. You'd bet if I was going to blade it, hit a worm burner, shank it, hook it, slice it. You'd probably bet on whether I lost more than 5 balls in a round. I'd end up pissed at you and owe you $1K after nine holes.

Tony on the other hand; I'd play a round with him and we'd never leave the club house and fill out our cards after a 12 pack.........................and shoot 1 over :)

I don't think I have ever played a round of golf with others where I didn't drink something requiring an ID or win/lose money. I never realized that until now.
