These are the guns of my youth. Top is a Remington 788 in .308, circa 1970, given to me by dad when I was 16. Bottom is a Remington Speedmaster he gave me when I was in my 30's, to replace one I grew up with.
I've got a 788 in .243. One of the most accurate rifles I have shot. It has put many deer in the freezer. The 788 was put out by Remington as a budget rifle. It turned out to be more accurate than their higher end rifles so they discontinued it. Good rifle!
