"Connecticut passes sweeping gun measures"

I hope the firearms related businesses in these places get the message & move to a place more welcoming.
I hate the idea of my $ going into the economy of places like this.

I'd expect a lot of this new stuff passed in Colorado and CT to be tied up in court for years. Judges invoked injunctions in New York State covering some of the bad law passed recently.

Colorado relies on regional tourist dollars as much as they do the "fly in" ski crowd. In the summer- they host large numbers of Texans, Oklahoman's, and folks from the other neighboring States. When these people start spending their tourist dollars at home or in places like Utah.... maybe some one in Colorado will get the message. The IDPA just cancelled a large regional event.

In addition to the information we share with our Legislators... dropping a message to State Tourism Boards, Hotel and Resturant Associations and similar groups will let them know that us "gun folks" represent a significant revenue source that won't be coming to visit and spend MONEY. You don't have to drive through New York or California to get many other places.... but you sure as hell can drive "AROUND" Colorado and Illinois to get where you need to go.

Owners will be allowed to keep their "high capacity" magazines but will have to register them with the state.

I've Been pondering on this for awhile....
What the hell does this do?
What will registering mags accomplish to stop a criminal, or mentally unstable person from committing a crime??

I don't know either. The mag doesn't have a ssn. So basically they end up with a list of people who choose to register. lots of good that does.

i agree, i don't know about you, but that is why i order most of my stuff from make ready pro shop...

I'm afraid all this attention they are giving " assault rifles" and regular capacity mags will have a reverse effect. The wanna be gangsta's will think in order to be major badass they will need to have them to commit their crimes. Then we will really start seeing more of this crazy legislation. In effect the legislators will be creating a new monster where there wasn't one before. The action movies will drop the use of the standard 9mm semi auto in favor of an AR styled rifle, so the gangsta's will be compelled to upgrade to retain their badass reputation. Just like the Columbians in Miami in the 80's or the Mexican drug gangs.

Its all window dressing for the real goal; when the next school shooting, movie theatre shooting or nut job hurts and kills people with a firearm they will be able to say see we didn't go far enough we should have confiscated them. At least that's my opinion.

Well, I look at it this way, the DMV and your insurance company know where you keep your car and about how many miles you put on it each year due to registration. Now, when these individuals registering their mags, they will know where they are. So, when the time comes that they decide to ban them entirely they know what doors to knock down. And they will knock them down. Because what is the point in asking nicely. They would have already tried the "turn them in no questions asked" thing once by then. Maybe.

But the real question is when will it stop. Remember the phrase "Give them an inch and they'll take a mile?"

I guess it is becoming a waiting game. If the current body gets voted out we will just have to see what will get changed. In the meantime, buckle up cause we are all in for a bumpy ride.

The states that support the 2nd ammendment should find other sources to sell to and refuse to export to the states that are trying to rule us. No exportation of beef, chicken, pork, wheat, cotton, oil, coal, IT resources, fish, leather, natural gas etc., etc. etc.
Lets see how long they can make it on hollywood movies no one will go to, late fees on credit cards, Oprah invites, golf lessons, revenue from tourists ( no one goes to) and every other thing we could boycott.

It's all crap! I hope Stag, Mossberg, and Colt cut bait and run to gun friendly states.
Colt maybe thinking of doing just that. This is from the Colt website and is a quote from the CEO:

As a leader of a Connecticut manufacturing business who answers to owners, I can tell you the one question I am asked regularly, "Why does it make sense to stay or grow here?"
Also they have or are opening a plant and new regional headquarters in Florida. That came out in December.

.......
With no lobbying background and fueled by the power of their emotions, a group of Sandy Hook Elementary School families can take credit for helping shape the measure as it moved through the state Legislature.
Now they're trying to do the same in Washington, where gun legislation is facing tough resistance. Congress is returning from spring break, and Newtown, Conn., families plan to spend the coming week on Capitol Hill.

I just read a new article related to this on Yahoo.
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/white-house-bring-newtown-families-aboard-air-force-154234665--politics.html

Exactly what I was afraid of......Apparently we're fitting the bill for them to try & convince our legislators to sign away our rights.

From the article:
Air Force One will fly 11 family members of victims of the Newtown, Conn., shootings to Washington with President Barack Obama after his speech on Monday on gun violence at the University of Hartford, the White House confirmed

White House press secretary Jay Carney said at Monday's press briefing that, before his remarks, the president will meet with family members who lost loved ones in December's mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School as well as with first responders. Also, he noted that the White House invited the families to fly on Air Force One so that they could both attend the speech and still get to Washington in time to speak with lawmakers about gun legislation.

Conversation with my beloved daughter that lives in that cesspool of a state.

That state just has too many negatives, I suggest moving to Okla.

Mike Minton I couldn't even legally visit that state.

Annie Minton Yeah I don't think they'd let you in. They'd smell the gun powder on you and make you turn right around.

Mike Minton Connie's would be smart to turn me away.

Mike Minton Did I just misspell Commie's ?

Mike Minton Naw, I'm thinking Connie is the new Commie.
