We are always talking about "what gun do you carry" or "what holster is your favorite" but the truth is, a good belt is as important as a good holster. What kind/brand of belt do most of you wear when carrying (which, hopefully is everyday)?

I wear a Filson 1-1/2" double belt. Very stiff laterally but is still quite comfortable. No Kydex, just two layers of bridle leather stiched together. The only drawback is the thickness (1/4") doesn't always work with all holster clips or loops.

Looper belt is what i wear when I'm feeling snazzy, Wilderness belt the rest (most) of the time.

I am glad you posted a photo of that belt . Lot's of guys want to see that belt but don't wanna scope your junk :85: . Can you get those Filsons locally?

Bianchi makes a couple of good gunbelts... I ou-t grew a Ranger style belt I should replace. they still stock. El Paso Saddlery turns out a good gun belt too... but they dont offer much in the way of narrow trouser style dress belts.

Lot's of guys swear by the Looper belts... very stiff with that kydex sewn in... about $50 at H and H OKC

Yes, Little Joe's in the Stockyards has them. They are $80

I bought my dad one two years ago for Christmas. After a year, the Kydex broke at the hole and again around one side. We were both disappointed with how long it lasted. I think it would have lasted longer with a roller buckle instead of the one it came with

I wear a leather fossil or american eagle belt. Doesn't look tactidilly and holds my M&P, 2 mags, a pmag, and two 4x4 shell caddies at 3 gun matches just fine, has been for about a year now. I do get made fun of though.

Well, my trust Filson carry belt (see first post) finally gave up the farm so I decided to get a Looper kydex lined belt.

First impression, This thing is really stiff! (not something I normally say) :)

As mentioned in one of my earlier posts, the buckle is the weak point. I replaced the original with a stainless roller buckle. I think this will help prevent the Kydex from breaking as has been reported on some of these belts.

I noticed right away the lateral stiffness really holds the holster and gun very steady. I will report back after a few more days of carry.

I wore the Looper for quite a while and it was good until the kydex right at the buckle point craked up and it made it difficult to buckle. This has been my latest carry belt and I am really pleased with it. You might give it a review.....

I am not affiliated with them in any way,,,just a satisfied cutomer....so far.

I have been wearing an aker lined leather belt for over ten years and it is still going strong. I recently bought another one in a little larger size as it seems that the closet shrunk the old one making it a little too small for inside the waistband carry. Damn leather bugs.

I week update with Looper Kydex belt:

No issues with belt. I have tried it with a couple of various types of holsters (IWB, OWB, appendix, paddle) and it seems to make all holsters perform better.

In the past, I have not been a particular fan of OWB holsters but having an extremely rigid belt like this even makes OWB seem acceptable (to me).

The other advantage I have seen over the Fileson Double belt listed in the first post is the thickness (not width). The Looper belt will go through most any belt holster slots. With the Filson, any belt holster had to have an especially wide belt opening in order to go through without extreme effort.

So far I give the Looper belt a 4.5 hollowpoint rating (out of 5)

UPDATE on Filson belts and their customer support. I bought the Filson belt (original post) new in 2010. Wore it everyday since that time. As reported in a post above the stiching that holds the two layers together came apart and I sent it back to Filson per their instructions for them to evaluate.

Today this arrived in the mail. Brand new double Filson belt. No questions asked

I also wear an SOE belt, but mine is the 1.5" rigid cobra belt. Super stiff belt and holds holster and mag pouches great. I do not necessarily love the company but they make great products.
