A bill that would allow carrying of concealed weapons without a permit gained preliminary approval in the House on Tuesday. Its sponsor, state Rep. Chris Holbert, R Parker, touted it as a way for citizens to spare the $152 fee to obtain a concealed weapon permit and the requisite procedure of applying for the permit at county sheriffs' offices, which are authorized to issue them.
