CMP Advanced Maintenance Course

Has anyone else seen this? It is a 3 day course held by the CMP at their facility it Alabama during which you build your very own CMP Special Grade M1 Garand. Classes are full for this year but I am already budgetting for 2015.

Never heard of it, but it sounds awesome and totally worth doing. Garand is one sweet-shooting gun. Soft and wonderful, like a Ruger 44 carbine.

Never actually shot one personally. I do have an M1A which is similar but still no Garand. I just hope I can get in if they do them again. They filled up in 30 minutes for this year.

Would love to do that class. Build you own Garand supervised by the foremost experts in the country? Hells yes!

Got an email from the CMP yesterday. They will send out an email this fall to let everyone know when registration opens and there are the same eligibility requirments as just straight up buying the rifle from them.
