I shoot in cleats and really like it and don't understand why more people don't use them. Solomon's are nice but so dang expensive and I don't see where they are or could be any better. What are yalls thought?

I learned a painful lesson on using cleats at the wrong time. I wore my New Balance baseball cleats during a local match to break them in and the range is primarily gravel and hard-packed dirt. I now have plantar fasciitis and that's normally caused by trauma to the bottom of the foot and the pain started around the time of wearing them. Salomons are expensive but well worth it in terms of comfort and grip.

I have yet to find a pair of cleats that don't hurt like hell after a few hours. Solomon SPIKEcross feel like regular old sneakers but give me cleat type traction.

I have now shot a whopping 8 3 gun matches, and in two of those, I wished I'd had better traction than what was provided by cross trainers and 5.11 boots. Will you win or lose a match because of shoes? No. Will you win or lose a match because you do or don't have a mag well funnel on the pistol or angled mag pouches? No. Put everything together and you become more efficient.

The thing about Solomons is that if they fail, as long as you have the receipt, they are guaranteed for two years.
One thing I have learned about 3 gun. You get what you pay for.
I've owned allot of "waterProof" outdoor gear. My Solomon's are the first thing I ever bought that lived up to it.
Whether it is solomon or any of the other high end adventure shoes, they are worth every penny.
They will last longer and are backed by pretty good companies.
Nothing wrong with cleats either though.

I picked up 2 pair of salomons a few months ago and I can already tell you, I won't ever run anything else. Yeah, the warranty is great but the comfort level and extremely light weight makes it feel like your almost bare foot. I got the cleated hiking trail runner (speedcross 3 gtx) for the extra traction in 3gun, and the non cleated XA Pro 3D Ultra 2 GTX Trail Runner for stationary and indoor matches. By far the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned.

I've been shooting in the same pair of Adidas football cleats for 7ish years now. They were about $40 I think. They're comfortable, super lightweight, and they have great grip. I've never experienced any serious discomfort while wearing them. I do think cleats provide an advantage over sneakers in grass and dirt. On gravel, I don't think it makes a difference. How much difference do they make? Not much, but for me it goes back to the old saying, "If you think it helps, it does."

I was wishing I had spent the extra for the waterproof Solomons at the Double Tap
That was my first real test for mine and they worked great!
