I've seen a lot about carrying lately on bs. Thought I'd see what you guys think about carrying a two shot derringer. I recently purchased a bond arms defender for the heck of it. I've always thought they were pretty cool little guns. 45/410 came with an owb cross draw holster. Currently loaded up with 410 pdx1. What do you think safe carry or not?

I shot a two shot derringer as a prop gun at the Arkansas Section 3 gun match one time. It was easily the worst trigger I have ever tried to pull. You had to pull down and back not just down. Then all of our bullets tumbled at 3 yards. Id test fire it a bit before you carry it for self defense.

How much smaller is that compared to an LCP or J Frame?
It's slightly smaller than the lcp. Is going to be quite a bit heavier though. I used to have an lcp and I really would forget that I was even carrying it. Maybe an inch shorter in length in comparison to a jframe but not positive. Like Jessie said biggest complaint is the trigger pull. Supposedly with a newer model it comes with the new trigger.

I'd go the J Frame or LCP route myself.

What would be the advantages of this gun that outweigh the limited round count?

Only thing I could see is with some 000 buck or something other than that nothing. I carry a g19 but sometimes get tired of the bulk from iwb carry.

Is it legal under the Ok Self Defense act to carry buckshot? I thought only single projectile, non AP, under 45" was legal.

But to the OP ? No. I'm not going to carry that. That has disaster factors that are to high to go into for a carry gun. Just my humble opinion.

What kind of holster is your IWB G19?

Only information I am able to find is not to be larger than 45 caliber. I am sure an attorney would jump all over it though in attempt to prosecute...

This is all I could find about projectiles

TITLE 21 § 1289.3 DEFINITIONS FOR FIREARMS ACT
“Pistols” as used in the Oklahoma Firearms Act of 1971, Sections 1289.1 through 1289.17 of this title, shall mean any firearm capable of discharging a projectile composed of any material which may reasonably be expected to be able to cause lethal injury, with a barrel or barrels less than sixteen (16) inches in length, and using either gunpowder, gas or any means of rocket propulsion, but not to include flare guns, underwater fishing guns or blank pistols.

I guess you could argue that A projectile means ONE projectile

It is a kydex holster "taco style" I guess it's called. It has a leather belt loop to allow for movement. Any good recommendations?

There are a lot of holsters out there. For my G19!I've got one of Troys (Triple Crown Holsters) that I like so much I wore it out. So he is making me a new one.

Where are you carrying it? Like appendix or 3-4 o'clock?

if I felt the need to ask the Internet whether or not carrying a certain gun was a good idea, I'd just assume the answer was "no"

I wouldn't carry it. At best, it might find it's way into my golf bag as a snake charmer. But that's just me. I want lots of ammo, decent trigger and a bit more sight radius if and when the time comes to shoot at a bad guy.
