YES, Crunchy Frog is yappin' about cowboy shooting AGAIN.

The "Belton Bushwhackers" shoot on the 2nd Saturday at the Belton Gun Club. The May match is this Saturday. They have a new "prop" (a storefront) so that you can shoot through the windows and door. The shooting is always fun and the props add to the atmosphere.

Last month they added an "All Around Cowboy" category in which you shoot two stages using both paws, two stages "Duelist" (one revolver at a time, one handed) and two stages "Gunfighter" (fill yore hands and blaze away). That proved popular so they will have that category again this month and possibly in the future.

Match Director "Pants a Fire Meyer" and his sidekick "Slippery Stew" have something special planned for the June 14 match: "A Day at the Range". The usual six stage cowboy action match will be moved to after lunch. In the morning they will have different shooting opportunities including a long range (cowboy/buffalo) rifle stage, a .22 caliber stage, a cowboy practice stage for the experienced cowpokes, and (for you greenhorns out there) a new cowboy shooting training stage! This will be a great opportunity for all of you who are interested in "trying your hand". They do a great job in Belton welcoming new shooters and I expect they will have loaner guns available.

A BBQ supper is included with the match fee ($25 for morning and afternoon shooting including supper, or $20 for the afternoon cowboy match and BBQ). Lunch is a BYO affair with grills provided.

There were 15 shooters in Belton today and we had a lot of fun.

Another forum member asked if there was any video from the matches. I did find this video posted to YouTube from the Belton match last July: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Jwi6jt_bgM

Since that time the club has added more props; we used a new storefront today, shooting through a door and windows.

The match directors in Belton have some fun things. In the second stage in the video the shooter had to blast snakes (lengths of garden hose, no actual snakes were harmed in the making of the video) out of circles drawn on the ground. I was at that match and thought that was a lot of fun.

I won't be able to attend the "Day at the Range", unfortunately, but it is shaping up to be a great event.

They will have stages set up in the morning to introduce new shooters to cowboy action. The cowboy match will be held after lunch, I believe, so you would be able to get a look at how a match operates.

If you are in the area, come check it out.

I understand that 53 shooters signed up for the "Day at the Range" and that there were other folks who came by to watch, including some Three Gun competitors.

Did any Forum members make it?
