Hello everyone, this is my first post (not including my introduction.) I am new to the gun world and after taking a few weeks looking into a starter handgun I have decided to purchase a Beretta Neos U22. I was wondering if anyone knows of a gun range that has these available to rent and try out in the Del City/OKC area before I buy it and if anyone here has any experience with one. The reason I chose it is because of the low price of the gun and the low price of the ammunition so I can practice with it before graduating to a 9mm if I enjoy my new found hobby.

Get a Buckmark. They are a better .22 and don't look like a space gun. You can get a Buckmark for less than $300 at Academy. If not a Buckmark, at least look at the Ruger Mark III 22/45. Buy what you like, but there are better .22 handguns out there for not much more money.

I actually like the look of the u22 over just the round barrels of the other guns in the price range. Is the U22 a bad gun?

Not a bad gun at all, but not in the same league as the others I mentioned. If you like the gun, then that's all that matters. If you decide you really like shooting, you can always upgrade to a nicer gun at a later date. You will be the one shooting, so buy what you like.

Thanks for the replay, you really make a noob feel welcome. I will definitely try the other guns that you mentioned if I can find a place that rents these so i can compare, I do not want to buy a gun based solely on looks.

If I had the Beretta, I would offer to let you shoot it. Unfortunately, the only 22 handguns that I have right now are the Buckmark, Sig Mosquito, and S&W 22A. I don't know who rents the NEOS since I only shoot at Heartland Outdoors and OKCGC. Maybe someone on here has one that they would let you shoot. It's not a gun that comes up much on either this forum or OSA, so I don't know offhand who owns one. You are more than welcome to shoot anything I have at OKCGC or Heartland in Edmond sometime. Good luck.
