Speaking of visibility, when I used to shop at the BX, I could get laundry detergent without optical brighteners. Is there something similar commercially available, that isn't some survivo-hoarder $25 per ounce stuff?

i use Sportwash on my hunting clothes. get it at walmart in sporting goods. says 34 washings and its not expensive. no suds.

i also add a half cup of white vinegar, in the machine, to new camo. it is supposed to lock in the color and make it last.

also to remove smells instead of using a machine which is rough on the colors i rinse clothes in the tub with a box of baking soda.

dont wring them out. put outside on a hanger to drip dry.

Thanks. I've got some of the best military camo ever fielded (Desert Storm night desert) for IR/NVG/aerial pattern detection prevention and I'd have to have it glow from the brighteners.
