I've bobbed my hammer, installed JP yellow springs, and a light (very) polish. My trigger isn't bad. But if I wanted to upgrade, what direction should I go? I would want easy installation, low maintanence, and reliable. Honestly, I'm hesitant to change, because my venerable Stag 1/3G runs awesome. So, I'm wondering, is it worth it?

If on a budget, a really good trigger job at a great price would be from Bill Springfield. Bout $75 if memory serves.

If you want to go with a drop in 1 piece unit, there are many to choose from depending on your budget and how light you want it.

I have a Bill Springfield trigger, a CMC drop in unit, and one that I worked over myself.
The CMC and the Springfield are pretty close to the same feel. The CMC is a little lighter with a slightly shorter pull and crisper feel.

The one I did isn't quite as light, but I also didn't go crazy with it. Just a light polish with JP yellow springs, probably similar to what you did.

Of the 3 I have, I like the CMC drop in unit best with the Springfield trigger a close 2nd.

I've also messed with Cyrwus's AR gold drop in unit that he has in his rifle and man, that thing is tits. Insanely light and definitely not for the novice so if you go with the AR gold, Please get a lot of time behind it before you use it in a match.

I absolutely love my AR Gold.

Past that I like the JP triggers. The travel adjustments are easy to make and you can bob your stock hammer and use it.

also, Matt, Theres a lot of bad stuff out there on springfield, not saying theres Good triggers out there, but there are def turds of his.

I guess I got a good one. I've put a couple thousand rounds through mine as well as a lot of dry fire and it still feels great.
Glad I didn't get the turd.

It's always harder than it needs to be. Without a lot of bang for the buck, I really have a hard time fixing things that aren't broke. I probably should shoot some of my friends guns and see if anything just grabs me.

I got to try a timney yesterday for the first time...it was AWESOME...good feel and super fast!

I pulled a CMC drop in off a table the other day and it's pretty dang good too. I shot an AR Gold yesterday though and it's king as far as I'm concerned.

Okay, so I got to finger an AR gold trigger yesterday. I liked the feel, I liked the take-up, I liked the break, and the reset. However, it had just the slightest amount of grit. Is that normal? I ask this because the guy who owns it equipment never runs very good and he's always fighting some kind of malfunction. Looks like one of those WAY more money than sense situations. A could see a lack of lube or maintenance being a culprit.
