Any Scuba Divers

Who dives and what are your favorite places around the state, or favorite dive trips you have been on.

I've scuba dived in a pool at a resort, as a freebe. It would be totally cool to get certified and really dive.
Where go you go?

Usually to Lake Elmer Thomas by Lawton, I didnt get to go much this summer but there is usually a group from norman that go every sunday.

I dive quite a bit @ Tenkiller. Next month I plan to go to Bennet springs, and Rubidoux cave in Missouri. What level are you certified too. I guess my favorite place to dive is the caves of north Florida or the caves in Mexico. I haven't been to Elmor Thomas, Murray, or Broken Bow. You should checkout Bennet springs. It's a trout fishery, they close it to fishing, and open it to diving from Nov to Feb. The water is about 60 degrees and was very clear when we were last there. There is a cave there that they allow open water divers in, but only because it's almost impossible to get past the cavern area.

I am a dive master part time for a shop in Norman, my favorite dive so far has been the fresh water cave dives that me and my dad did in mexico. I haven't been to Tenkiller in quite awhile, Bennet Springs sounds pretty cool i will have to check it out I need to catch up on the diving I missed this summer.

So your cave certified. You should join us at rubidoux, it's not as impressive as the caves in mexico, but i like it.

I am not cave certified but it would be cool to get it we went with a guide and the areas we dove were only a fraction of the cave system at the time i was at the rescue diver level. What organization are you certified through

TDI - tech to deep air diver
NACD - full cave + stage

cool I haven't ever looked into any tech classes maybe down the line

I started diving when i was 18 my dad and I both went through the class and have since both reached the dive master level. It is a lot of fun if you ever get the chance to try it.

I've always wanted to get into diving but I was afraid of getting into ANOTHER expensive hobby. THAT, and I didn't know of there was anyplace decent to dive in the state.
I may have to reconsider getting some dive-schooling this coming year.

There are some good lakes around and a lot of dive shops organize dive trips pretty regularly and if you take care of your gear it will last you a good while. It is an expensive hobby though I was lucky I guess that I hadn't gotten into shooting yet.

I'm a PADI Dive Master. Been lucky and have dove all over the world. Haven't done any sense I moved to OK but wanted to hit up a few local lakes but need to get my tank filled back up. Hard to really pick a favorite dive as I have done so many different kinds of dives. Day, night, salt, fresh, warm, cold, shallow, deep, wreck, reef, cave, lakes, and rivers.

I divemaster for Oklahoma Scuba in Norman when they need help with classes and I have time if you are south okc they can get you set up with air I am not real familliar with any of the other shops but there are quite a few around the metro.

I am a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. I have not been diving in OK, but I can tell you there are plenty of nice lakes to dive in AR. I teach classes at DeGray and spearfish in Ouachita. I hear Norfork is very clear also. I have flown over several of the lakes in eastern OK and they seem to have clear water.

I got my DM cert back in '99 when stationed in Guam. More recently I spent 2 years on the dive team at the Virginia Beach Aquarium and Marine Science Center while stationed in Norfolk, VA. Did tank cleanings and fish feeding shows. Did make some trips down south to the Cooper river and do some Archiology dives. The pitch black water beyond 2' deep wasn't so bad as the fact you couldn't see more than 2' in front of you and the big catfish and gators in the water you never knew when you would run into them.
