I've been buying powder in larger quantities for many years. Discovered the economy of bulk buying, as well the the security of having a lot of powder from the same Lot..so no concerns with lot-to-lot variability. I'll buy a 1# container of a powder, to give it a try & see how well it works. I look for the consistently in which it throws from my Dillon and Hornady powder dispensers, and how accurately the rds. shoot from my loads using it. If it is determined to meet those criteria satisfactorily, I'll buy the largest container of that powder that I can find..then, it lasts for some time.
All this brings me to yesterday's find, which I'm posting about today. I transfer powder from it's large ( 5# or 8# container) to a smaller 1# container, for use. I do this, so when I'm actually loading with a powder, I have the 1# container on my bench. If time passes ( & I didn't remove powder from the hopper) I don't have to guess what powder is in the hopper. My 1# container of HP-38 was empty, after loading about 500 rds of 9mm, so went to refill the 1 # container. That's when I noticed the price of the 8# container I bought.
I should always date the powder containers after I buy them, ( sometimes I do this, in this case I didn't ) so don't know how long ago I made the purchase.pdr.jpg

8# of powder for $135.00 = $16.875 / 1# My guess is I bought this more than a few yrs ago... The Hodgdon site lists the current price @ $313.99 for an 8# container, 1 # for $44.99. Sadly, my 8# container is almost empty.

Powder prices are certainly high. I get an email from Powder Valley almost every day, so I can kind of watch what component prices are doing.
There is a slight downward trend currently, but I suspect it's going up prior to the election as folks think the worst is going to happen and liberals regain the office of the President.
Reloaders will be buying no matter the price to get ahead of that if it should happen.
If the election goes to Trump, the bottom will fall from component prices just like ammo did during his last term.
Lets hope that is the case this election.

We can all recall buying primers at $10/1000 and a jug of powder for $70, or, at least I can.................. When Accurate Powders was trying to gain a foothold in the US market, they priced their powders at VERY friendly prices (a 2 lb. bottle of AA#7 was the same price as a pound of legacy powders). I was leery at first, but #2 and #7 won me over, and I bought an awful lot of #2 back then. I used it in all my pistols, even 10mm (I was duplicating my .45 loads (200gr@950).

I laid off pistol shooting for several years, and all of a sudden, primer have jumped 700% and powder is now 400% more than it used to be. It's a raw, eye-opening course of events. Makes me want to go back to plinking with my rimfires.

I hear that. I just won a 1950 Colt challenger 4.5" bbl. last week on GB. Under $300.00 for the gun but add shipping and sales tax around 340ish give or take a couple $$. If it shoots as well as my Huntsman with 6" bbl. I will be extremely happy! The Huntsman makes me look like a great shot at 50' lol. Practice is good, but I need to do more of it. Hard to find the time. Going to have to make time I guess.

do i get a kick-back?
i know where to get 8 lb cans of powder for $209.
the SHIPPING and HAS MAT is included.

Small Pistol primers - to pay one Has Mat buy 2 5000 rd pieces and the bill shipping included is around $440 for 10,000 primers.

is it ok to share this? its not mine and im not selling it.
i was joking about the kickback.

Post away! Everybody needs a break with prices now.

its American Reloading.
just today i saw 55 grain projectiles, 556 for 60 something per 1000.
they sell blems and pulled bullets. the pulled ones do have pull marks but all ive ever seen with the blems is color variances, maybe sometimes a deformed one gets through.
the powder is somehow "renamed". i bought M-418 for 223. it is labeled "similar to H335".
primers are still around 350 or 400 for large ones which is lower than all ive seen except "goAstrasports.com" sporting goods.
small pistol have just moved up to $213 / 5000.
they do have a has matt . it just changed. now it is 27 bucks for 5000.
thats still less than everywhere. the small rifle are like
$350.American reloading.
lots of projectiles though. i mussed a deal on 5.7x28. in one day they were gone. 40 gr 223 1000 for $40. i stalled because they were pulled.

I've been buying from them for the past several years, some powders, many bullets, and even primers.
They had Ginex LRP's in stock when I couldn't find any brand LRPs anywhere. They've worked perfectly in my LR loads so far.
I Just tried some "factory 2nds" American-made SPP's that they've advertising. I recently bought some & immediately loaded
100 rds with those "2nds " and all fired (w/o requiring a 2nd strike) in 2 of my 1911's chambered in 9mm.
They're good enough for my range plinking loads, which is the majority of my shooting.

Today I received some Inceptor 65gr. ARX ( ! ) 9mm bullets from Raven Rocks Precision..
I had to give them a try, as they're currently only $39.00 / 500 bullets, w/free shipping.
Never heard of Raven Rocks Precision, a bit fearful it might be a scam @ that advertised price.
I found a thread about them on another site I visit, so decided to give them a try, as another guy had ordered & received them,
so I placed an order. They arrived today.. ordered on 9-3 & arrived @ my door on 9-10, not bad.

Those Inceptor bullets are cheap because they are fragmenting bullets that they somehow make in a mold. They are great range bullets.

I spent considerable time reading about these ARX bullets before purchasing them. Interceptor developed the bullets & loaded ammo to a reported 1800 FPS. Read 3-4 tests on different sites, then read about the company, as well as how the bullets are made ( injection molding, not compressed). After reading the test, & discovering the savings by ordering a larger quantity,I ordered another 1K pills. I ordered 500 of those 50gr 9mm JHP's that Liberty uses in their ammo, wish I'd ordered a bunch more. Only $59 /K for these 65 gr pills(, inc. free shipping ) Hard to find any 9mm bullet for that price. I loaded 50 rds. this a.m. Using HP-38 (one of the suggested powders) 5.1 gr. should be good for about 1400 fps. according to the data I found. Meant to take them to the range this a.m but too tired after work I did yesterday afternoon :(

I shoot a lot of Nosler 2nds in 6mm, 55 grain. One of the only manufacturers that produce that bullet. It's a varmint bullet, but at 4100 fps from a .243WSSM, the deer don't care because they are dead before they hit the ground.
