AK-47 Ammo for 3 gun Match

Been doing some reading and about to buy 1000 rounds. Based on what I have read for most matches I would be better off getting FMJ copper over lead? Lots of copper over steel out there, but I am afraid that most steel target owners would not want steel core ammo being used.

So is this assumption correct?

Yeah, pretty much. Although the real concern is from steel penetrator ammo like M855. I'm not sure a mild steel core would do any more damage to an AR500 plate than lead at 100+ yards.
