Only question is to set it up myself, or take it to my smith. Fun project, but I'm sure Steve Rose has some magic dust for it, too

You owe it to yourself to send it to Accurate Iron. Mike had all three of my guns. He and I have been devising the best way to pimp a M3000 for racing.

I know Steve does good work but he will be learning the platform with your gun.

Thanks Jesse for the plug. These stoegers have a learning curve, Im still learning them.
I think that the best mods for these are to open the load port and then send the carrier to C-rums to get welded. Ive given Jeff at C-rums my input as to how long he should weld em, and hes doing great work on them.
the more you open the load port, the more you need the carrier welded up.

Ill have a video up on my website by the end of the month (hopefully) that will cover some of these things.

My number one goal is reliability, followed by ease of loading. The rest is just fluff to me, with the disclaimer that on my very best day, I'm an intermediate level competitor. So I may not be able to take full advantage of fluff yet. I'll send Mike a PM. Just fooling with dad's, I can discern an issue with the taint between chamber and magazine tube when loading 2.

The gun I've been running for that past 3 months has a pinned hi viz front sight, wallowed out loading port, cheek eez stock pad, and a few holes drilled in the stock butt pad. I polished up the rough area under the recoil spring on the OEM mag tube and Cyrwus knocked down the edges inside the barrel to make it feed reliably.

Bob,

Yeah, that taint is a hindrance when Load 2 is not exceptionally flat going in. A couple of improvements can and need to be made there on the Stoegers I’ve had in. Definitely start your tune up with one of Jeff’s extended lifters if the port is opened forward.

Later you can consult Urban Dictionary for other ideas on the “taint” :o
