3 Gun OKCGC

What is the platform-looking thing being built out there? It's a section of levelled land with post holes and rebar at the far side of the parking area at the 3-Gun long-range. It didn't have concrete poured yet.

I am reliably informed that the closure of the North end rifle range is temporary pending a range safety stuty.
One possible issure is the fact that on several occasions I have noticed that some shooters have placed target stands as close as 25 yards from the firing points. Obviously, rounds fired at those targets may not impact in the relatively small berms at 100,200, and 300 yards. Safety dictates that all rounds must impact in berms and the improper improvised targets call that into question.
All ranges should have an annual safety class like the shotgun range has before it can be used unsupervised.

Pretty difficult to do when all members have the gate combo.
The reality is that there are a lot of new members who have not been fully instructed on various range fules. Most range rules are posted on signs that should be obvious to anyone using the range.
In the case of the impromptu(sp)targets on the 300 yard rage, a prominent sign might help(or might not)
Actually the so called benchrest range around the corner at the S end of the action pistol ranges would provide a safe100 yard range for three gun.

Get new locks. Put up a fence. I'm sure there are lots of Ipsc and 3 gun shooters that could use some poppers and such left out for practice purposes. Problem is you gotta find a way to keep the general population from shooting them at 3 yards with their new AR15.

In my earlier post re possible alternate ranges I meant to say black powder range rather than benchrest range.
Getting more senile every day.
Re locks, etc the shotgun range has more control as the two so called "honor" fields have combo locks with the combo only revealed to those with a knowledge of opening and closing the fields, rules, have gone through range indoctrination and have experince shooting skeet/trap etc.
Despite this there have been issues with the "honor" field system as well.
In other words, I ain't got no good answers.
