As far as simple target/practice ammo, what brands do you guys favor for reloading 223? I have been using berry's 55gr, mainly because of the low cost. Are all 55gr fmjs created equal or is it worth paying a little extra for better brand?

I've picked up a deal or two on the Hornady 55 FMJ from Monmouth Reloading. They run some pretty good specials from time to time.

Comparing like bullets, is the Hornady a better quality bullet or just more readily available?

The Hornadys run MOA in both of my guns and I didn't even have to work at it. Plenty good enough for me and considering it's a discount bulk bullet, well that's just icing.

Brownells had Hornady 55fmjbt 6000/$420 last week.
That is what I had to pay Graf's with my dealer discount. Plus, Brownell's has some killer shipping deals.

This is my favorite 55gr bullet to load for this sport and plinking.

I also use the bulk Hornady 55gn FMJ with good results.

Not sure where Berry's gets theirs from but they are not all the same.
