2011 STI?

Hey everyone, I have a random question that I was wondering what it meant.

What does the 2011 mean on those competition STI's? I would assume that it is for the 2011 season, but I checked gunbroker and didn't see any for sale that had anything other than 2011.

Do all of them have 2011? even if they are old?

I think the big thing about the 2011 frame is that it's a double stack 1911 that has a modular frame, meaning the grip assembly is separate from the frame. There are several companies that make double stack 1911's - Springfield, Para, Caspian, and probably more, but the 2011 is a specific frame style that STI and SVI make with the modular grip setup. I don't know that much about them either, but that's my understanding.
