Nice to see some additions to the thread, but please post some pic's.
I shoot every Sunday morning. This was last Sundays hardware.
This is one of my favourites for shooting with iron sights, 1955 Colt Woodsman Match Target, Top Shot muzzle brake, Herrett's stocks.
1989 S&W Model 17-6, I...
Petard,
The CWA 1911-.22 Conversion Unit is based off the GSG 1911-.22 pistol. CWA made "upgrades" for the GSG and that part of his business became so popular he branched into his own 1911-.22 Conversion Units and complete pistols.. They are very well made.
An update to my trial of the Bushnell...
As above, the magazines between your Colt Combat Commander and a typical 5" Colt Government Model, Gold Cup, Colt Competition Model, etc etc are identical. I'm going to assume your magazine that came with your pistol has a small "M" stamped on the baseplate in the upper right hand corner. The...
CW-A (Chet Whistle Accessories) 1911-.22 Conversion Unit with brake, mounted to a Norinco M1911-A1 lower, Ro-Co stocks, GSG magazines with weighted CW-A bumpers:
Back to some pistols......
I shot this one this morning. I've had it for a little over a year and I continue to be very impressed with it. It's in the same league as a Nelson Custom and Marvel Precision Unit#1, but at a budget price $349 (vs $585 for a Nelson and $565 for a Marvel Unit#1). If...
I was out yesterday morning with these:
Here's my other, older (bought in 2004), Marvel Precision Unit#1 aluminum slide non-lockback with brake, 1" Ultradot red dot, Colt Combat Elite lower (2014), Ro-Co "The Master" stocks, Colt .22 Conversion Unit magazines.
Early Kart "United States Arms...
I just had these 2 to the range:
Marvel Precision Unit#1 (steel slide) 1911-22 Conversion Unit mounted to a 2014 Colt Combat Elite lower, Vortex Venom dot, RoCo stocks, GSG magazines.
Marvel Precision Unit#2 (aluminum slide) 1911-22 Conversion Unit mounted to a Norinco M1911-A1 lower, RoCo...
I loaded a bunch of 9mm without plunk testing in the pistol before heading off to the range. The 1st magazine I had 1 that got stuck in the chamber with the pistol slightly out of battery and I couldn't rack the slide to clear it. The range visit quickly came to an end and I had to travel back...
Mine is this S&W Model 41 that I bought new in 1985. Still have it and still shoot it regularly. I put the 7" barrel on it and a dot a few years ago. It came with the 5 1/2" heavy barrel that resides in the original box.
"What slide stop is that?"
I don't remember. I bought this pistol in the late 80's and collected the parts to "restore" it. I'm assuming the slide stop is from Wilson Combat which was pretty much the only aftermarket parts readily available up here at the time.
The Colt .38 Kit pistol is 1 of only 604 produced.
The Colt .38AMU pistol has a Colt .38 Special Mid Range magazine inserted which leads me to believe its been converted from the un-common .38 AMU (semi-rimmed) cartridge to the common .38 Special. This was a common modification in the day. I...
Sorry to be out of touch, I've never heard this acronym? before. Can someone explain what TOOS, or TOS means and what relation it has to the 1911Forum??
Welcome to the Forum from Canada!
Your Colt .22 Conversion Unit dates to the 1950-1953 time period. The "tells" are the Coltmaster rear sight which was used from 1947-1953, the barrel hood stamping which first appeared in 1950, and the right side slide address of "Colt's MFG Co" which was...
