    Automated brass sorter by weight

I haven’t had much time to play with this, built the electronics part, did the programming and threw together the mechanical parts months ago. It’s still a long way from being a finished product but it’s also one of those projects that can get lost do to “life getting in the way” if I...

Auto decap and primer pocket sorting machine for 45 acp

I built a machine that will decap and sort 45 ACP by primer pocket size. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJgU3-OXuUU

    Blue Bullet 9mm recall info

I have never ordered from them but would now. I cast and coat my own and don't treat myself that well.

    How to "micrometer" any die

There are reasons to own various dies but if being able to simply accurately set and adjust depth from one position to another you can save a lot of money making a "beginners level" tool vs buying a special die. All it does is hold an indicator off a surface, as long as you don't move it it...

    Shooting Chrony "hidden features"

Shooting with a buddy awhile back I was reviewing data on my old shooting chrony and he wanted to know what "hack" I had done in order to make it give high, low, average, ES, SD and review all the shots. He was kind of upset that is was just a plug and momentary push button away, all the years...

    Case wall thickness gauge

Well, the doctors didn't kill me last week and I got tired of laying and sitting so I did a few minutes of resting out in the shop today. Not a big project but an easy one I had been intending to do when I had a few min. It's just a 3/16 rod with a .100" bearing embedded into one end that can...

    Action/load test platform

In their first life the aluminum blocks were used along with a fixture to duplicate the FIA approved roll cages in F430's but with materials that were SCCA approved. I almost never throw anything away that I could "recycle" including the left side cage shim, in this case.

    Action/load test platform

I think I am about there. The best 10 second, 10 shot 100yd group I have fired so far and with a .22 none the less.

    .223 fmj choices

I also use the bulk Hornady 55gn FMJ with good results. Not sure where Berry's gets theirs from but they are not all the same.

    Concentricity gauge build

I had a little time today and built an H&H style gauge too.

    Runout = circularity + concentricity

    Media separator, cement mixer size

I built a media separator for a bank of cement mixer size tumblers. It is on casters to roll from one to the next and doesn't have the normal crevices that trap and hold media. Not a lot to explain on this one so I'll get to the photos and video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScrYaUscDe8

    Concentricity gauge build

Depends where you are actually measuring from but .002 is common.

    Concentricity gauge build

Answers to questions I haven't asked before? I really don't know. I did play with it for a few minutes and found belt fed ammo for a Mk 48 has the same runout as Federal "premium" ammunition and both have half the runout as ammunition I loaded years ago for my belt fed 1919 on a Hornady LNL.

    Concentricity gauge build

There have been a few times I have wished I had a simple little concentricity gauge dedicated to the reloading room for measuring runout in cases and to see how well bullets are being seated, so I built this one today. There is a slot machined into the base plate that the bearing holders ride...

    380 shot shells

As far as I know no one makes a 380 shot load. They go from 9mm to .22.

    380 shot shells

380 shot shells. First step is to turn the .223 case back and I built a little fixture to trim them to .980" Once locked into the fixture I rough cut them long then hit it on a disk sander that gets it to .980" I used Winchester SPP to ignite the N310 under a cardboard wad with 60 grains...

    Improvised brass catcher

Working up some loads and needed a quick brass catcher so I knew what brass was fired from each round. Lucky for me, I had to clean the pool earlier and that gave me an idea. A few 1/8" straps, and a section of tubing and two bolts and I was ready to go.
