Thinking of doing a 2-3 day survival trip

I'm looking at a couple of different locations: Ozark National Forest Ouchita National Forest Mark Twain National Forest Big Spring Honobia / 3-Rivers WMA Palo Duro Canyon, (Amarillo, TX) Couple of other actual Wilderness spots that aren't national forests/parks (that are more open with me...

Thinking of doing a 2-3 day survival trip

I've been thinking about it for a while now, and now that I'm sort of settling back into my routine, I'm considering (this spring, when the weather gets a little better) doing a 3-day minimalist hike with very little "stuff" to see just how well I can do on my own. I don't know that I'm ready...

This is a complete factory-built Sabre Defence mid-length upper assembly (with the bolt carrier group and charging handle that came with it from Sabre Defence). Light-weight (Government) profile, 16" chrome-lined barrel, M4 feedramps, flat-top (white-filled engraved T-marks), mid-length gas...

Over 100 lbs lost since September

I've started working out every day (playing 1 1/2 - 2hrs of either half-court or full-court pickup B-ball at the local YMCA) and have had tons of compliments on how I look like I'm loosing weight (I'm not eating right), but I've actually gained a few pounds. I need to start eating right or...

    too cool

The answer to that is apparently put out a youtube video where he's not driving a bad-ass car with less than 500hp in it. If that guy ever pulls an OJ and ends up on the news, nothing else on TV will ever get ratings that come close to the chase scene that ensues.

Red Dawn Hunting, Survival and Recreation

Sounds pretty cool - next time I'm over that way, I may have to stop by. Do they have any knives?

I've never wanted a folding knife this bad in my life

You know... I've never been a fan of Sog knives, but I actually find myself looking to get one from them just to try them out. I'm seriously looking at a Buck Vantage Pro - its a great value (S30v steel heat-treated by Paul Bos, flipper, G10 scales) I've become very picky about my knives...

Knife info - grinds, blade-shape, materials, steel, locking-mechanisms

Here's some cool info about the anatomy of knives (if you've ever wondered what that "XYZ" part is on the knife that someone is referring to, this will help): http://www.jayfisher.com/Knife_Anatomy_Parts_Names_Definitions.htm

    .308 vs. 30-06 what's your personal opinion

.308 hands down - cheaper (good) ammo if you don't reload - and if you do, like its been said in this thread - More factory loads than you can shake a stick at.

    Very hard topic for me

I can't remember if its Black Rain or Mega that makes a kick-ass Billet upper/lower with an ambi bolt-catch built into the lower (not a lever like a B.A.D.) - if you've ever cleared a bad stove-pipe or a double-feed from an AR, you'll appreciate being able to lock the bolt-back with your right hand.

Mother of Bully Body-Slammed in Video Demands Apology From Her Son's Victim

That's Australia for you - if you think England is bad for Big Brother, and police state, then know that Australia is way worse and the people have become used to it - think about it, they're already more dis-armed than the UK, and they have developed a mindset that their government and rules...

Knife info - grinds, blade-shape, materials, steel, locking-mechanisms

Was looking into this stuff since everybody in the Benchmade world speaks highly of the Axis lock, and I found some cool info on both the Spyderco and Benchmade websites. Thought I'd pass it along in case anyone else get's bored and wants to check it out. Here's some info from Spyderco on...

I've never wanted a folding knife this bad in my life

Let me know how that goes man - I'll buy some ESEE knives from you. Here's some of the knives I got in an attempt to replace the HEST/f: The PackRat (orange) is still on sale for $29 at knifecenter.com and is a good knife for that price. I'd say that the Tyrade is easily...

I've never wanted a folding knife this bad in my life

Hey I just saw this man - yeah, I had one ordered, but gave up on it. I have found that I disagree with a lot of what RYP has to say and his business practices are less than up-to-par in my opinion. I might buy a used HEST/f later from someone else for under $150, but I'm not spending $250 to...

I've never wanted a folding knife this bad in my life

All of them came with the knives (with the exception of the Busse on the right - I ordered one online for a Swamp Rat Warden and modified it to fit the Busse Game Warden). I can't even remember who made it. ESEE makes injection-molded sheaths for their knives (the left one). TOPs usually puts...

    I've already got a few fixed-blades

I've never wanted a folding knife this bad in my life

And I just cancelled my order - still hasn't showed up, Robert young Pelton (owner of DPX Gear) has been through a lot of drama, DPX and ESEE split-up, RYP got kicked off of Blade Forums as a moderator (and had his section removed), the knives made it over here from Italy to CA and then had to...

Beretta M9 issue - help needed

Yeah, but it sucks when they were caused by the shooter buying fancy after-market crap for the gun :) Filed down just a few thousandths on the bottom of the channel on the inside of the right grip (the channel was designed to let the trigger-bar move freely in it and wasn't large enough). Gun...
