Tried to buy a gun today and was denied?!?!?!

Give them your SSN as the computer will hit on similar names and date of birth. You might want to contact them and apply for the Unique Pin Number (ask your gun dealer for the contact info). The UPIN block on the form 4473 is in lieu of SSN and immediately takes the NCIC computer check to your info.

    Home Protection

Unless you are positive you will never have any invited guests visiting in your home, then stashing guns around is a bad idea. Weapons should be either under your actual physical control or locked away. Troy gave some excellent advice on improving security. Think about security in layers; the...

Best place to conceal if you have a gut?!?!

I was going to go for the joke and suggest a gym bag, but strong side hip to just behind the hip would probably work best. Shoulder holster, cross draw, and ankle holsters are usually very difficult for guys with a gut. Small of back is very uncomfortable if you are sitting in a car or a chair...

    Competition as I Carry...

Maybe it is time to re-examine your EDC gear. If it is too slow for IDPA then it will probably get you killed on the street. You don't have to be a gamer to learn what does and does not work.

    Which 45 for Carry

I carry a full size 1911 in a Milt Sparks Summer Special IWB holster. It is fairly easy to conceal and I am comfortable carrying it. The Glock is too thick and bulky and just does not carry well for me. The M&P seems to be thin enough to be a good alternative but I have not tried to carry one...

    Teaching my son to shoot

Sounds like he is left eye dominant. Probably the easiest thing is to teach him to shoot left handed so he can get a good cheek/stock weld.

Not your normal self defense situation....

Easy solution, when the animal tries to go for the fence you pop the animal trainer in the kneecap and make him the easiest target for said animal. Then run like heck while he is busy with the appetizer course.

    New to concealed carry

"agreed. i always felt i should have been born 150 years ago..." . . . so, 1861, Civil War, probably would have been able to carry a lot more weapon than you would like. Actually most cities had pretty restrictive carry laws back then too.
