BEST CHOICE...TISAS or ROCK ISLAND 1911A1 MIL SPEC.

Tough choice.. I own a few RIAs, no Tisas.. only 'cause of "timing" I really don't need ( or even want) another 1911  Don't shoot those I have enough as it is. here's my thoughts on the subject of RIA vs Tisas: The RIAs were the 1st cnc-machined, made in the Philippines 1911's to come...

Would you rather have a 1911 in 9mm or .45 Pros and Con?

My 1911's were in 45 acp only, for > 20 yrs. Finally tried one in 9mm, then added a few more in 9mm. After my 1st 1911 in 9mm, I wondered why I waited so long. I actually bought a 10mm ( Delta Elite) before the 9mm..forgot about it. Though I load my own, I still prefer shooting the 9mm. Not sure...

Found another potential source for making a loading error.

Son # 1 stops by for his Mom's cooked meals, quite often..( at least several X's a week ) . Strange, he always stops by around our mealtimes, or if he show up after we've eaten, he'll ask during his visit, " got anything to eat ?" I'll probably invite him for a range outing, as his reward. i...

    User review: Lee Ram Prime

I've been loading for many years, and have developed my "systems" for how to load Handgun & rifle calibers. I enjoy the speed & accuracy provided by my handgun rounds loaded of my Dillon 450 (older, pre-550) progressive loading press. When I started loading rifle rounds, after learning that...

Found another potential source for making a loading error.

I believe ( but wouldn't try it, for proof) that I could have fired the rds with the powder charge being .3 gr. over the printed "max." charge weight. There's a safety factor built in to the max. charge listed in charts, and I've read about some that load charges way over a max. listed...

I recenty added a new rifle to my collection..a Remingtom Mod. 700 CDL SF . I'd never heard of a CDL, or a SF designation for a Remington 700 rifle. ( A CDL is a nicer version of the BDL, the S = stainless steel & the F = fluted barrel) so, my new rifle is an all stainless steel, fluted...

Congratulations, HooDoo Man, on your retirement. It's been 14 ? or 15 ? yrs. since I retired, ( as soon as I could..@ 56 y/o..) gave up 20% of my small pension to leave early..& still consider it well worth it.. Spent my working years in mental hospitals..& a prison. So, if I seem strange, I've...

FORGED OR CAST, WHICH IS BETTER? and WHY?

If Glock & other polymer framed handguns can get away with a plastic frame with minimal metal support, it seems a cast frame would be more than strong enough to suffice. I know some frames wear or break, but I've not experienced any, in the 45 yrs I've owned, in a variety of brands & calibers.
