    Thumbreak or No Thumbreak?

I only have one holster with a thumb Break, a Bianchi, spring clip to hold it to the belt. It is a very strong spring wire. I used it for a while when I first got it to carry, and it was easier to put it on and off. When I ride my motorcycle I feel better with it keeping my pistol where it...

The discussion that happens at least once a week at work

I carried a Colt Commander as an LEO for fifteen Years on duty and off. When I switched to a Communications Supervisor, I switched to a Glock G-23. I liked the weight, and everything else. I carried it on duty and off for another five years till I retired. After that, I continued to carry it for...

    My M9 “journey”

When I worked security in FL, we were issued a Beretta 92-FS. Mine was used but in good shape, after I gave it a good cleaning. We went to the range once a month for a whole day. Lots of shooting the Beretta, and an AR-15. Had a lot of fun, burning up free ammo. I bought a new M9 for 450, to...

    What did you carry today?

Well, today took Mom to Doctor and carried RIA, compact. Nice pistol with 11 rounds of 45ACP. Lots of hurt if needed. I do not have any problems changing from 9mm, to 40cal, to 45. I shoot and practice with all three, and have no problems with it. If I did I would be back to the 40 all day...

That sounds like me. I remember having several, well a bunch that I sold or traded, that I wish I still had. You just don't know how much you will want them back at a later date. I wish I had them all back, and a big Vault to keep them in. I almost bought a Savings & Loan Office one time to...

Businesses That Do NOT Support Firearms Carry

I was traveling from Houston TX, on I-12 about halfway across Louisanna, when I encountered a major Parking lot traffic had stopped. First Time LEO Qualifying Thursday...

I carried a Colt Commander on duty and off for fifteen years as an LEO. When I moved to another state, they did not accept my LE certification. I went to work as a dispatcher and started carrying a G-23, a lot lighter. I also liked the 40 round. I stayed there for five years. I still carry that...

    ? For R.I.A. owners

I am on my fourth Rock and think they are a great 1911 pistol. I started with a GI and made a competition pistol out of it. It ran great with any rounds I put in it. Next was the first RIA Tactical model, and it ran just fine with everything, including an old box of Winchester Silver tips. Next...

Businesses That Do NOT Support Firearms Carry

If they don't want me carrying in their place of business. They don't want my business. Or I probably will just go in anyway. It's concealed for a reason. The assisted living facility where my Mother lives don't have any postings. They like someone like me being in there. The one where she lived...

    Single vs ambi

Way back when I first got into LE, I carried a Colt Commander. The first holster I had was a thumb break, and it would trip the safety when you sat in the seat of the patrol car. When the butt of the pistol got against the seatback, and you moved just right. I took it back where I bought it, and...

The discussion that happens at least once a week at work

I like the Commanders best of all 1911s. I started as LEO with an S&W 357 mag. A friend, a retired Texas Ranger, gave me a Commander. It was old and showed a lot of wear, but she fired every time you pulled the trigger. He told me that sometimes she didn't like HPs, but she never failed with...
