    What 1911 brands to avoid?

Kimber is well know as one to avoid. I have had spotty success with DWs as well. If you do get a DW, shoot the snot out of it as they only have a one year warranty to find out if it has issues. Also don't use Hoppes #9 on their "Duty Coating" as it will wreck it. I have had a lot of...

And FYI the Glock 19/17 was issued in 1998, the rest of them personal purchases 2010ish onward. So by choice over metal Sigs. Based upon years of use, training and experience--and the experiences of others.

Unreadable. Absolutely no ego here other than fact vs. personal opinion. But thank you for being the 'bigger man' and saving me from more boring restating of the obvious.

Pay attention, son. Never said Glock was the best. You said it was a toy, which is your unfounded opinion. So, I differed. Hence, the vibrant discussion here based on your unfounded opinion, and now it seems you have a thing for CZ/steel and plastics. Could care less other than exposing...

And seriously, give up trolling for CZ/Springy on a 1911 forum. It is unbecoming...

LOL. And sure, the best Croat pistol in the world is--wait for it--the one made by Croatian military. To prove it is a 'toy' (by your philosopy) it even tells you where to put your hand. Sorry, bub.

I hear hear on the internet that 4-pound Česká zbrojovka Uherský Brod guns are better than real combat & street proven as carry pistols anyway. If you gotta go plastix, gotta go with the Spingyz. Superioz design, Grip Zonez, higher bore axis for better controlz... you know.

Springfield plastics? A toy gun. Only shot one once though and it jammed. So... I got that going for my opinions :D

"The toys they are." I have since corrected. To me toys are synonymous with items not to be taken seriously, i.e. it's junk. Correct, not your words though--I apologize for the wording misuse.

Phil, I believe all of your statements to be true, with the exception of "the toys they are" (Glocks) part. (*edit correction*).

So as an extensive, private, hobby shooter/reloader, by shooting it on once (where it did everything you asked for), gave you the thorough conclusion that it was junk? Gotcha. Could you not just simply state you personally don't care for the Glock? That I can completely understand and is a...

So, if you are an instructor or competitor, I will gladly take your class b/c I want to learn from you. With such bold statements I feel compelled. Just let me know the state, date, times you run your range, place, cost, and expected ammo needs. I am free in March 2023++

Hmmm Budget? Not really a concern for me but what I am authorized to carry is. Choices are limited, but as far as POWs go, and based on real experience--and being an armorer for Sig, HK, Glock, and Beretta--well I choose Glock. God, yes it is ugly but I also do own and shoot steel...

Yeah, I will always take my "plastic toy" for real work, as I have for over 25+ years with over 30K+ rounds through them. Now, if I'm going to a special event like a wedding, bar mitzvah, or quinceanera--something super low-threat--maybe my 1911 LW Dan Wesson Commander with fancy grips.

Nice. So you double daily carry? You must have hips like Mae West. So, not quite comparable to the GLACK, but they are pretty. More like "better than a 1911" if you must be so bold.

    Shot Buff in Commander?

I don't claim to be an expert in regards to the below. It has just been what I have noticed in my years of tinkering with a lot of 1911s, springs, and buffs... I believe they do serve a reasonable purpose. Probably more so if you have an aluminum framed gun, shoot hotter +P or Super ammo...
