    What 1911 brands to avoid?

500 is usually the minimum before I’ll carry a 1911.

    What 1911 brands to avoid?

Just know not all Kimbers have the stupid Swartz and some are actually quite nice.

    What 1911 brands to avoid?

Well since the original thread is over a year old, but people are still making suggestions, I'll add mine. I've had 22 1911s since 1996. Some got sold off with less than a hundred rds through them, others I shot thousands. I currently have 13 1911s in different calibers 9mm, .45 and a 10mm. I...

    Charles Daly 1911s

Yep. Agree. The only thing I will add is in SA, MIM parts are in all of their standard lineup. Even the Pros. My Vickers Master Class, advertised as having tool steel parts instead of MIM, has lots of MIM. It’s not a problem, but does point to cost savings instead of using the best possible.

    Charles Daly 1911s

I don't have any Dalys. Years ago, probably 10-15, I remember a representative from CD asking members about some features on a 1911 and they were to incorporate them. Alpha Foxtrot 1911 Issues

I’ve got a 9mm Commander that is one of my best out of ten 1911s in fit and finish. I love it.

Would you rather have a 1911 in 9mm or .45 Pros and Con?

    Excellent post! Great rationale.

Would you rather have a 1911 in 9mm or .45 Pros and Con?

I have both. I love my 9mms and I love my .45s. It’s cheaper for high round count days with 9mm and uses exact same manual of arms so it’s still familiar feeling to shoot. Also doesn’t leave my aging joints sore after shooting 500 rds. They are essentially the same as far as performance with...

    What 1911 brands to avoid?

I’ve got an Alpha Foxtrot 1911C. Smoothest 1911 I’ve ever had. And I’ve had a Baer, a dozen different Springfields, and 8 Colts. The only issue I’ve had is the thread protector will unscrew after about a hundred rounds. As far as brands to avoid…. Taurus (out of spec) Ruger(cast), Baer,( he’s...
