I am helping a friend liquidate his safe. One of the gun I am researching is a Springfield V-16 Long Slide Super. I joined this sight after finding the thread on the NM serial number. That NM prefix seems to have created a "wives tale" of Nation Match. I have spoken to Springfield and a young man told me it is just the serial number and has nothing to do with National Match. The thread I found on this sight explains it indicates Brazilian manufacture. Even so there is a belief out there that it does mean National Match and the guns are priced accordingly. This gun has the had etched numbers on the barrel and take down lever. It is .45 Super. It need a bit more clean up but it is excellent condition with only a bit of handling wear.
I know a lot about military 1911's . Commercial 1911s are out of my wheel house. All this being said I am trying to come up with a realistic price range for the gun. Take a look at the pics and give me your best opinion.
