When the last time you heard about this issue from another 1911 maker?
I don't want to sound thick, but how can something such as described in the recall happen? Lack of good QA? Bad batch of parts? I'm just asking because I don't really understand it. I'm going to check mine to be sure it Isn't in the recall, but the Tank Commander model is not listed. At least they are doing a recall. I hope no one has been injured due to this.

Many of us have replaced parts in our 1911s. If you get good parts they are too big & need fit to be safe & go bang.
Gunsmiths understand the minute adjustments that keep the 1911 the pistol it needs to be, & you would hope Gun builders would understand the same damn things.

This is one reason I build my 1911's myself and fit every part by hand. Any manufacturer that runs a production operation looks for every cost saving opportunity because that savings goes directly to the bottom line. Needless to say, this can and does result in inferior parts that can fail.

That should not happen with firearms, but it certainly does.

I have several that I meticulously built and none have experienced a failure a single time. They also eat anything I feed them.

Today many 1911s have much lighter pulls than was the case 40 years ago. So the margin for an error at the factor is much less. I would first see if I had a problem prior to sending the gun in for service.
