    Forum fading away??

I haven't been here in a long time. Until 6 months ago I was a GA resident even though my permanent home is SC. Now that I'm an SC resident, I will watch the classifieds as I used to trade a LOT in GA...

    Range partly open

The former Indigo Gun Club range in Eastover SC (between Columbia and Sumter) is at least partly open again. The club closed at the end of 2015 and the property was bought by the DNR. The shotgun portion of the range is now open and hopefully the pistol/rifle areas are not far behind. Looking...

    Joined gun club

Had a great time yesterday. Finished the practical portion of the RSO course and spent the next couple hours slinging lead with my son and about a half-dozen other club members. Finally got to shoot the new to me Sig P229 SCT and it's a smooth shooter. Tried out my son's new Beretta M9 and I...

    Joined gun club

I was spoiled living in GA as I had 3 ranges within a few minutes of my home. Here in the center of SC there just isn't much so I decided to join the gun club about 15 minutes from my house. It isn't cheap but it sure is convenient. They do not have full time RSO's so most members just take...

    Howdy Again

The strangest thing about being retired is the day of the week is now a moot point. I also rarely wear a watch anymore...

    Howdy Again

Been a member for a while but I recently retired from civil service (Army) and I'm now back home in SC for the duration. Have both a GA & SC carry permit and focus on handguns primarily. Looking for a place to shoot regularly near Sumter and it's kind of slim pickings. Anyway, howdy to y'all...

FIREMISSION -- Restaurant Carry Meeting in Sumter

GA went through this in 2008 as the antis were screaming that blood will run in the streets and it will be like returning to the old west - what actually happened - nothing at all. It's truly sad just how racially polarized it is in SC and I doubt it will change in my lifetime. I've lived in...

    Georgia's new gun legislature!

It was nip and tuck for a while as the "Moms" group really tried to kill this. Slowly the law here is getting better. Without our advocacy group, georgiacarry.org, it would not have happened as they are VERY effective at steering and guiding the bills in the state legislature...

    How About TV Shows?

Two of the best shows on TV (IMHO) are both on Cinemax - Strike Back and Banshee. Justified is great, sad it will end next year. When all else fails I go to BBC America as a lot of the Brit shows are pretty good and I love Top Gear.

    How about those other auto's!

Traded into this yesterday, a Sig P239 in .40 with pretty grips. Had one several years ago and traded it away - but I missed it. While many dislike the low capacity and the DA/SA trigger - I like them. I do need to flip the mag release though as I got it from a lefty...

Looking To Relocate from Konnecticut To SC

Yup, must own land. I'm technically a GA resident but my home has been in Sumter since 1996. Last year I finally got my SC permit as I was way overdue. Anyplace in the South is better than anywhere in the North...

    ProMag 380 issues..

In general Promag makes the worst magazines period. I would never use them in a carry gun ever. As far as a full mag needing a good push to seat it on a closed action - pretty normal really...

Need some help from the 1911 guys

A friend of mine has a Nightmare and he really likes it and has put a lot of rounds thru it. He's owned all manner of 1911s and is very happy with the Sig. I had a TACOPs for a time that was very nice as well. I trade guns a lot, not because there's anything wrong with them but I just get the...

Need some help from the 1911 guys

Mine runs perfectly, in fact so has every Kimber I've owned. Based on the internet, no Kimber should ever work. I've heard all the MiM stories as well but I have yet to see an MiM part fail on my guns or those owned by folks I personally know. The problem with the internet is one unhappy...

Need some help from the 1911 guys

I've owned most of the ones on your list at some point. In fact I took my CWP class with a Colt Defender. Until you get into the true custom guns, most 5" 1911s are very similar and every brand has it's fans and haters. I'm down to 4 right now: Kimber Eclipse Pro II, Springer Loaded (blue)...
