Is Tisas a good 1911 option?

BTW I got the Rock working with a Cylinder and Slide sear/trigger kit. Solid action and 4lb pull. Don't really know why the other kit didn't work out.

Is Tisas a good 1911 option?

I have a Rock at home right now. They are fine weapons. Its been my tinker around with gun. And I have been having fun with it. The Brown sear and trigger kit is not working out well. There must be enough of a change in geometry that the new sear can't get a solid hold on the hammer. It has...

Is Tisas a good 1911 option?

One of my Tisas was SS. The finish was very good. No visible machining marks and a soft lustre. The Rock has no visible machining mark and its a dull phosphate style finish. The grips on both Tisas were checkered plastic, the Rock plain wood with sort of an oil finish. Both of these brands...

Is Tisas a good 1911 option?

I have owned a couple of Tisas and one Rock. The Rock has a cast frame, Tisas is forged. The Rock has a better plastic box, the Tisas just cardboard. The last Tisas came with a disassembly tool and cleaning rod. Plus Tisas has a Novak style rear sight and front sight with three dots. The...

    Stuck Safety

Thanks, a gentle leather mallet and a pin punch was all it took. I have a 270 BAR II that I need to mount a scope to tonight which gives me a breather after that finicky 1911. I have a 5.5-20 Viper I bought new for this rifle and intend to sight it in with my collimator, then take it to the...

    Stuck Safety

I ordered a new Wilson combat safety this morning. I expect it will fit well with the Brown sear and hammer.

    Stuck Safety

I got it out last night using the tapping method. Thank you. I boxed up the parts and will get back to the pistol later on next month. Thank you for the sage advice too. I will not play with sear angles, I have the jig, but too much can go wrong so I won't fuss with that. It is a neat machine...

    Stuck Safety

It is stripped down completly, save for the sear, hammer and left side safety. The safety covers the sear and hammer pin so they cannot be extracted with the safety on the frame. I am stumped.

    Stuck Safety

I am working on adding a new Brown sear and hammer to my 1911 Rock. As I was trial fitting the new parts early in the build the safety went in but I cannot pull it back out. I need to take it out because it is not working. I have the new hammer, sear and disconnector in place, without a...

    New Guy

When I was a youngster my Dad, an Air Force veteran of WWII kept a 1911 in his bedside table. he had a magazine with a few rounds in it as well in the same drawer. I would sneak back in the bedroom while Mon and Dad were out for one reason or anther and fondle the weapon, cock, point it, you...
