    What 1911 brands to avoid?

Way to go edindah ! I do admire a man who's willing to "commit".

    Checking the waters

Thank you - kind of you to say so. BTW - it's will, not Will - and the term/phrase is given, to enable the shooter to fire when he feels he has a good chance of hitting his "target" - rather than volley fire, which could literally be hit or miss. I personally have no hard feelings for Wills -...

    Checking the waters

Thank you Bob. I've refinished a number of stocks and handgun grips over the years. I'm almost getting good at it.

    Checking the waters

The Ruger .44 Carbine doesn't seem to be too prolific up here. I've been wanting to get my hands on a nice one for 50 years. G'day gentlemen. Been reading this forum for a few years. It's really nice to hear from a group of people, to whom guns are an everyday thing. Been into guns in general, for 60+ years - and hand guns for something over 30. Live by myself (hermit) and retired from FD for almost 10 years. Oh ya' -...

Is it just me or is the original configuration of the 1911 A1 still comfortable as is to others as practical user package?

Been my favourite pistol for decades. Prefer an arched MSH - just a more comfortable fit. Also, an extended beaver tail - I always hold high and tight and I've been "bit" enough that I've decided I don't care for it. The only other mod - I like the trigger pull around 2.5 lbs. I live in...
