Well I didn't get in on the buy cause well I just didn't know how they work in my pistol, now I'm looking to lower my loading costs and would like to buy some if anyone has 50 or 100 they could part with I'd appreciate it. I am looking for some of the 40 cal 180gr bullets.

If anyone has some other ideas please pass them on to me! these will be shot in a Glock barrel and well the jackets bullets are getting into the pocket pretty good. Later,

Give Donnie a shout - he will send you some to test out if you want!!!
He will ask you to pay for the shipping, though.

The price of jacketed bullets will have to come down, Donnie is flooding the market........but he did build a better "mouse-trap"

Talked to Donnie the other day and should have some gator snot bullets in a day or two :-) now if I can find some load data for power pistol powder and jacketed bullets or might have some HP-38 maybe.

Anyone have any 40SW data with the Bayou bullets they would care to offer? Later,

Kirk

Kirk, I use WST with lead and jacketed.

4.5 gr. with a 180 lead
5.0 gr. with a 180 jacketed.

But I load longer than factory length for my Caspian, 1.180" to be exact. If you are shooting factory OAL in a Glock I would back down to about 3.8 and work up. I suspect you will end up at about 4.0 to 4.2. DO NOT try to duplicate factory velocities with WST. Just go to about 170PF and call it good. Anything above that will need a different powder. It gets pretty erratic at high pressures but it's great at low to moderate pressures. It'll make an utterly fantastic .40 minor load, but who wants to do that?

Scott, thanks, I've heard a mess of folks using the WST powder and yes my loads are 1.125" COL. Is the WST a clean powder? main reason I went with the power pistol as it's a clean powder compaired to most.

I'm going to have some more time for reloading but less time for shooting the next couple months as the holidays are coming up but the end of the year stuff at work always seems to get in the way of fun so I'll probably work on some good loads for the pistol so when it's too cold to get out and shoot I can roll a mess for next year. Yes it's pretty clean. Not as clean as N320 (but what is?), but it's not what I'd call dirty. Seems to be a good bit cleaner than the Clays I'm using in my revos. With the Bayou bullets which I'm hearing are about as clean as jacketed, you can go a long time before gunking up your gun. I'm at about 1500 rounds on my Caspian without a cleaning. That's mostly plain lead which is nasty with any powder. WST is my favorite cast lead powder by far and it's about half the cost of N320 and almost always available too.

175ish - I tried 4.3 which is what Chambers was using and had to work up and up and up till I got to 5.0 to be the magic number. I'm trying to blow through this WST anyways - Just got some VV N320 so only the good stuff from here on out...

So I'm thinking get some WST and start out at 4.5gr. and work my way up until I get to around 925fps and call it good if I understand this power factor thing correctly. I sure hope these bullets shoot well! these jacketed bullets are starting to get into my pockets. I'm thinking I should have just taken up a crack habit it's probably cheaper LMAO

Dennis I have no idea on the Unique and lead, these will be my first loads that are not jacketed and believe it or not I've only loaded pistol ammo for about the last 3 months of my life so this is all new to me! wanna know about rifle loads? I've got about 30 years under my belt there :-) Later,

Kirk, hit up Rusty for another opinion. I know he used to load factory length and IRRC he was running 4.0 of WST in his 2011. I've always loaded long. There's a ton of info over on Enos too.

Brandon, that doesn't sound right at all. But every gun's different.

Yeah, I've got thirty or so on the rifle as well, and magnum pistol.
Worlds of difference...

Unique is a universal pistol, and sometimes shotgun powder. It used to be considered a "dirty powder" but they reformulated it and its pretty clean now. I use it in the .45 loads.

I thought the same Scott. Did a lot of reading on enos and seems 4.7-5.0 was average depending on pistol. I'm sure some have gotten it with less but a lot of folks on enos needed close to 5 to make major. I chronod prolly 50rds. And all were near 950-965fps

4.3 only gave me like 860fps

Got me some green bullets in the mail today and some WST found it's way to my house :-) looks like after dinner off to the 550 and get me a mess of loads to go try over the chrony. Later,

Kirk

Here's my load data:

4.3 grains of WST
180 grain BBI, coated bullets
1.135 AOL

This load chrono'd at 167 or so in my 5" 2011. I find this round to be very soft recoil wise with snappy slide action, similar to the 200 grain bullets I was runing but quicker. If you look at my videos you can tell the gun runs pretty flat.

I also need to add that the temp was around 50-60 degrees when I chrono'd these loads... WST is inversely temperature sensative as well...

Damn - my M&P barrel just must have been a slow one.....shows what a difference guns / barrels make and also shows why EVERYONE needs a chrono....

Awesome thanks Rusty! yea that pistol of yours hardly even moves and no flash on a dark stage at H&H LOL I better rethink starting at 4.5gr and drop back to 4.0gr and work up. Later,

Kirk
