Build the ULTIMATE - LOKI Rifle - UPDATE on PAGE 7

Lol. Glad you guys still remember me over here!

I still drop by and try to put my input when I can. I learn more over here so I dont really post that much.

You know I'm going to vote ATAS!

I'm just trying to imagine what rail would look good with that billet.

Does it weigh more than a forged upper/lower?
I'm sure it does so how much more?

A ) How could we EVER forget the WORMYDOG - I know you've been busy with graduation and all that jazz.
B ) I tried to weigh it this morning on my home scale with the spikes lower that I have here but it wouldn't register - unfortunately I have no drug scale laying around to get a more accurate reading

This is probably a stupid question, but is that a NFA lower? is that section on the safety switch for 3 round burst?

The lower is capable of select-fire, but is not registered as an NFA item & doesn't have to be.
This is not uncommon. You can get select-fire capable lowers from many different manufacturers.
Without the select-fire trigger group it's just a picture that your safety switch is incapable of turning to.

POLL 1 has been complete.

It looks like we are building a BLACK furniture - 3-GUN rig AR with our LOKI Upper/Lower

Time for round 2!!!!

I almost added a vote for the ACE SOCOM but I figured the ARFX is adequate. I dont think we want to turn this into $3000 gun that a new shooter couldn't afford.

I agree. If this build gets to crazy then your going to limit the number of people who will be able to bid on it. Unless thats than plan.
Also I think you are going to limit the bidders if you build an all out 3 gun rifle. Just my 2 cents worth

You don't gotta be a high-speed 3-gunner to appreciate a 3 lb., crisp single stage trigger!

The ARFX and JP trigger (currently winning the poll) are the cheapest ones on the list, and, IMO, the two best!

Well, maybe the ACE is sturdier, but zero difference in functionality.

The stocks you mention are the same aren't they? Did I vote for the wrong one?

The biggest difference between a high end "3 gun" rifle like my JP and a high end Noveske or LaRue is that the 3 gun rifle is a no frills setup. You can always add rails and accessories to make it more geared toward another purpose. The low mass operating systems and reduced gas volume do theoretically make the gun less reliable if you had to take it to say Iraq or Afganistan where it would get less maintenance. The system is very well suited for home defense and the non life threatening plinking that most of us do. Most people have never enjoyed the beauty of a rifle tuned for shooting fast like we do in 3 gun. I think if they did it would change the idealism of wanting carbine length barrels and mil spec internals. Simply put it's more fun to shoot a gun that has no recoil even if it is a 2" longer.

The other thing to remember is that 23 out of 53 voting members all voted for the 3-gun rifle - so to be fair we are doing what the majority wants.

You are right. I for one have never shot one but would love the chance

I know this and you are right its what the majorty wants. My point is if we go all high end on this build we are going to limit the people who can afford to bid on it. Just something to keep in mind. That is all.

I totally understand what you are saying here. The upside is I'm trying to get as much donated as possible. The Upper/Lower were donated and I think I have the barrel donated - this is the bulk of the cost of the build right here. If we do indeed go with the UBR - I will have the option to get one at DEALER COST - so I'm trying my best to keep things down this way. The starting bid will be the 100% equivalent to the cash I have invested in the rifle. I have already decided we are 100% not putting optics on it. There is no way I can budget for a Trijicon, or Swaroski scope w/o tapping into the savings plus most people are picky on their scopes - we can let them put what they want on it. When all is said and done I look to have about $600 or so in the build - not a bad starting auction price for one helluva rifle.

Did you call JP and see about a deal on the trigger, adjustable gas block, low mass BCG, and buffer? You can't build the ultimate 3 gun rifle without them;)

That's $350 worth of parts right there.

How long does this current poll last? I gotta do some recruiting on Enos to find some non Magpul fanboys to help me vote for the ARFX.
