Carry Gun Match - Heartland Outdoors 3-4-12

Dang I just like to shoot and I don't get a mess of time to practice so I shoot my G24 cause I enjoy it, I don't show up to win anything I show up to practice, talk to people, and just try to have a good time! hell when my name was called for the certificate I was going to say let someone else have it just cause I really don't need it. I guess next time I can clean the lint out of the G23 and see if it goes boom, do I need to bring my fishing vest LOL

GT if your gonna show up then I have to be there! I like to be seen with the cool kids it helps my rep and it's dope :s_laugh: Later,

Kirk

No fishing vest needed unless that's what you'd wear to conceal it on the street. What do some of you guys carry as your daily carry? How often do you practice with it? How often under a little bit of pressure, like at a match? If you enjoy running and gunning, there's nothing wrong with that, have fun. This is the one match around where we can get some good practice with carry guns, see how they run, what holsters work, etc. Just sayin.......

I have a new Gen4 G34 and I'm still going to shoot my Gen4 G26 at the Carry Match (if I ever get to go again) because it's a CARRY match. If you don't CARRY the gun everyday for protection then DO NOT shoot it in the CARRY match.

For a brief and dark period in my youth .... My carry gun was a .36 cal Colt Navy ( repro)
No foolin.. I was broke and that was a gift gun from a Uncle who schooled me on black powder.

Now that gun would test the ventilation system.
I'd try it if I had some spare cylinders!

I created this match as a venue to shoot your carry guns and thereby get better with them.

Every match, someone learns something about their carry gun or equipment. Last match, I learned about sights on ported glocks in low light. A gal discovered her holster was causing problems for her. Another shooter learned that new ammo in new mags should be tested first, and it goes on.

I created "Other" division to allow folks to get in some trigger time with their match gun, but the match will never revolve around those guns.

This is a Carrygun match, first, last and always. A match where you can run your carry gear and still be competive.

glad you did dave. i learned a bunch about my CCW pistol last night and about my skills (or lack thereof) with it. i'm just glad i learned it on the range and not in a life or death situation. i certainly dont mind seeing guys bring their competition guns, hell i love to see them and learn about em. in fact, i have a beretta that needs some rounds run through it and i might just bring it next time. its a good event and i had a blast.

much thanks to heartland for giving us a fun, safe place to learn and compete.

Besides, I hate shooting pretty decent with my carry gun from concealment and finishing 22nd below the CR Speed demons with their barrels twice as long as mine and twice the ammo capacity. Yes, it's a Freudian envy kind of thing. :)

well the CR speed should be in the other division, so you shouldn't be competing against them...

Just wish it was closer. I had to work the day after, so it was a no-go. The one before got me home at 1:45 in the morning. Wife wasn't happy.

if i had the money for a nice carry gun, and holster for it i would probally come to the CARRY GUN MATCH and shoot it, but since i dont i pour all my money and extra time into trying to get better at this sport!! hell i barely have the money to afford ammo, and gas all the way to Edmond! so sorry if it offends people that i try to better myself any chance i get. Oh thats right i dont give a elephant dung if i offend people!!!!!

No one's offended. What do you carry concealed or do you? If you enjoy shooting a competition gun at Heartland, go for it, as I said earlier, any shooting is good shooting. Those who have carry guns would be well served to practice with them at the ONLY carry gun match in our area. There are lots of matches to shoot the others. What did you do, stick your finger in a light socket or something today? Lighten up Sparky.

I will tell you what Rob Leatham told me at the very first 1911 Single Stack Classic when I told him I'd dreamt the night before that I'd won the match, defeating him and everyone else: "it's good to have dreams..."

Some of my best shooting is in my dreams. I dreamed last night I won overall shooting a snubbie from concealment reloading single rounds from my pocket. Oh yeah, it helped that you dropped your gun and got DQ'd. :sarcastichand:

no i dont carry cause my hands are registered weapons....lol..jk No i havent proplery managed my funds to go and get the carry permit yet. I still just go old school in the front pocket. Nothing aimed at you Mike i awalys thaught you were a mean old man until words finally started to come out and then i realized you were a nice old man and, a pretty good ol boy!!

No, I'm not, I'm a sarcastic ass, especially on this forum. Just ask Jesse, he can vouch for me. But....you're welcome to borrow any of my carry guns to shoot at the match if you want to leave that gamer special at home next time. David will even allow those of us who have shot several matches to draw from the pocket, rumor has it Jesse is drawing a Ruger LCP from his sock at the next match.
