2-25-12 3 Gun @ OKC Gun Club

Couple things:

#1, on behalf of Jesse, Chambers, Curly (Glen), Myself, and everyone involved in the match today; we thank you.
The stages ran well, and folks had fun. We had a missight, where Tony's squad was heavy with new shooters, and they were a lil slow, understandable.Tony did a great! job with them.

#2 so we can have more balanced shooters across the squads, we will be instituting a squad sign in sheet.
You sign up, pay your entry, and put yourself on a squad. New shooters, will go on another list, and then will be distributed across the regular squads for mentorship and so theres a good mix of experience, and "new enthusiasm".

#3 You cried out, and we listened: The March match is ON!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on out to shoot, and if you can; come out to help set up!!

Hell yeah! Todays match was great, I enjoyed the stages a ton! Big thanks to everyone involved for all of the hard work that goes into this event...

Thanks but to be honest, if it wasn't for the help I got from the other guys on my squad, we might still be there. Ben, John, Mike & Scott came through in a big way & helped me out a ton with all the new guys. No fault of the new guys though, we all have to start somewhere right. I hope just they all had as good a time today as I did at my first match.

+1 on Tony getting the Trooper Award.
Tony was patient with all of us, hell he is an awsom squad mom. Thanks mom- :sarcastichand:

Check out Michael Rush crushing the clays on this stage. I thought I was doing good shooting two clays after activating the flipper. Nice job man!

Jesse, thanks a ton, thanks to everyone who fielded my noob questions. I had a blast and hope to get to some matches more than just once a year!

As one of the new guys, I want to thank everyone for the great time I had at my first 3 gun! Everyone on my squad was fun to shoot with and I got lots of good tips. I'm looking forward to next month already.

I caught a great vid of Jesse crushing stage 4.

I followed him with a slow but steady run.

I was happy I could put together three of my favorite guns and have so much fun shooting with them. They are by no means purpose built for 3 gun, but they are reliable (I used my Mossberg 500, 11" AR, and stock XDm9). I need a bunch more practice and am seriously considering a Benelli already.

And for the guys on my squad who watched me pooch stage 5, I swear I can ring 300 all day long when no one's watching!

I shot 3-gun back in the 80's with icons like Eddie Rhodes. Things were different then! I've shot a few since, but it's been about two years since my last 3-gun, and my rifle broke on the second stage, so I couldn't complete the match.

For a variety of reasons, I've decided to give it another go. Except for the long range stage, I did ok for an old fart, but I relearned a very important lesson on the long range: don't rest the rifle barrel on the wall! Why? Because it makes your shots go high. Anyone have a rifle length free-floating handguard for sale cheap?

The shotgun has always been my least favorite gun of the 3, due to impractical-outside-of-the-match reloading requirements. I mean, outside of the match or practicing for one, when are you going to put on six or more shotshell caddies and walk around with a shotgun? Regardless, I've decided it's time to improve my shotgun skills and handling. (I'll practice loading more when the swelling in my thumb goes down...)

It was a fun, challenging match and I'm glad I went. A big "thank you" to everyone who helped make it happen

I was hoping there would be a March match, as that falls on my birthday (which means I get to shoot whatever I want!). If you're inclined, bring presents in the form of ammo. I promise to think of you with each shot.
